I wrote a letter to Santa

This very seasonal and endearing poem is written by Tracey Curtis …

I WROTE A LETTER TO SANTA

I had to write a letter
as my mummy said I should
The letter was for Santa clause
to tell him I’ve been good

So I got a piece of paper
and a pen to take to bed
I sat and started writing
and this is what I said

Hello there Father Christmas
My name is Daisy Payne
I live at Number 53,
At Farmhouse, Country Lane

My mummy said to write to you
to tell you I’ve been good
and as I do just what I’m told
I thought it’s best I should

I didn’t want to bother you
but my mummy did insist
So if you think that I’ve been good
can I please go on your list?

I’ve really been so good this year
I’ve helped my mummy lots
I helped her wash the dishes
and the cups and all the pots

I helped her with the shopping
and I helped clean out the bath
I helped her with the washing
and I helped sweep down the path

I helped her do the housework
and I helped her change the bed
I helped her fold the clothes up
and I helped her bake the bread

I helped her clean the windows
and I helped her clean the car
I helped her in the garden
and she said I was a star

I helped her fluff the pillows
and I helped her paint the gates
I helped her with the cooking
and I helped her stack the plates

I helped her when she wasn’t well
I helped her dry her hair
I helped her put her slippers on
and I helped her to her chair

helped her clean the fish tank
and I helped her walk the dogs
I helped her clean the fireplace
and I helped her get the logs

I love my mummy very much
so that’s why I have been good
I didn’t want to bother you
but my mummy said I should

I know you’re very busy
but my mummy did insist
She said I had to write to you
to put me on your list

So there you go dear Santa
I have done what mummy said
its time to say my prayers now
and then I’m off to bed

But before I go dear Santa
and for this I do insist
Will you give my place to mummy
if I make it on your list?

As mummy is the one that’s good
and her name is Lucy Payne
She lives at Number 53,
At Farmhouse, Country Lane

Thank you so much Santa
that is all I have to say
have a merry Christmas
and a happy holiday

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
