Will Writing and Lasting Power of Attorney from The Planning Crowd

It is a fact that over half of people in the UK haven’t yet made a will and of those that have, a number of them may not be valid or kept up to date.

The inevitable may still seem a long way off, but it is so important to protect your assets and ensure your loved ones are looked after according to your wishes that you shouldn’t delay getting your Will organised.

It is reassuring to know that you have everything in place when the time comes.

Who Are We?

A nationwide specialist based in Lincoln in the U.K. The Planning Crowd are experts in Estate and Life Planning, and our fully trained team have been helping our clients for over 30 years and drafted over 100,000 wills in that time.  We have 5 star ratings from Trust Pilot.

What do we do?

There are many lifetime events that trigger the need for a Will, or an update to an existing one, including marriage, having children and buying property. Even if you don’t have substantial assets it’s important that you protect these for those close to you and use your Will to appoint someone you trust to handle your affairs when you are not here to do so.

Planning for the inevitable may not be a pleasant thought, but doing it now saves your loved ones considerable stress and expense at an already difficult time. Our qualified Paralegal team can take you through every step of the process, the majority of our instructions are taken over the phone and at a time to suit you, however, home visits are also available at no extra cost. We then prepare your legal documents for you.

Lasting Power of Attorney

A valuable instruction that allows your loved ones to make important decisions on your behalf should accident or illness render you unable to look after yourself.

Without this, your loved ones do not have any authority to handle your affairs and they would have to apply to a Court of Protection to gain legal permission if you lost capacity and they needed to act.

This could involve high legal expenses, Court fees and many hours of frustration for the family as they manage your affairs.

Hi Sally. Great articles this month as usual. A quick question re the Lasting Power of Attorney offer month. The Government HMRC website says the cost of an LPA is GBP82 per person per LPA (there are 2 types - 1 for health and 1 for assets such as property and finances etc). Therefore the cost for 2 LPA's for 1 person is GBP164. Your offer is GBP227.50 so am confused as to what this cost if for. Could you clarify for me. Many thanks.

Hi Nigel

Thank you for your question regarding the costs of a Lasting Power of Attorney

The Planning Crowd have this response for you

“The £82 you refer to is the cost of registering of your LPA with the Office of Public Guardian, and not the preparation of your bespoke document.

When your LPA is completed, you have the option of registering the document with the Office of the Public Guardian, (with a cost of £82) or you can store it yourself, and when, and if, the time comes you can have it registered then, So the £82 fee is only payable on registration.

The discounted price for the preparation of your LPA from The Planning Crowd is £227.50 (reduced from £325).

I hope this helps and would be happy to talk to Nigel if he needs any further clarification (0333 600 6555)
