Rent out your spare room to boost your bank balance

Looking to boost your bank balance? Rent out your spare room to make some cash

Most of us, whatever our age, wouldn’t say no to earning an extra bit of income. As you enter your 50’s and approach retirement age you may start to think about other ways to supplement your income.  One fun way is by renting out a spare room to guests on a long or short-term basis. Have your children finally moved out? Do you have an empty bedroom or two that is rarely used? If so these rooms could be the key to a nice little earner for you.

How do I sign up?

Homestay.com allows you to list the bedrooms you have available in your home for a set nightly rate. By signing up to become a host, not only can you earn some extra money, you will meet new people and learn about other cultures. There is no long term commitment required to become a host, you decide when and for how long your guests come to stay.

Through being a host I have met some interesting people from all over the world. The website is easy to manage and the support from the back team also seems to be good”       Roy James, London

Who will come to stay?

Our homestays are booked by students, interns, professionals and tourists who want to experience the local community and culture of the place they are visiting. At the core of their homestay experience is you, the host, welcoming them into your home.  None of our homestays are vacant properties – a host lives in every homestay listed on Homestay.com.  We understand that you can’t be there all the time, but just ensure you welcome and orientate your guests. We ask that all our hosts offer a light breakfast to guests such as cereals, pastries, and tea or coffee that guests can help themselves to each morning.

You’re in control

It’s free to create your profile on Homestay.com we just retain the guest deposit and the balance is paid to you on arrival.  You are in charge of who comes to stay with you and when. Our request booking system and secure messaging platform (voice and video call features) allow you to get to know your prospective guests.  You have complete control over who you accept to stay in your home.

Visit our become a host page to learn more about hosting with Homestay.com and see how your spare room could be the nest egg you never knew you were sitting on.
