SAVE £27 on six great wines from around the world
Here’s an opportunity that no wine loving Silversurfer should miss!
Laithwaite’s Wine have put together an exclusive 6-bottle case just for you – specially priced at just £7.49 a bottle and including two FREE Dartington tasting glasses (normally £20). The case also comes with FREE delivery (normally £7.99).
First up is Barón de Barbón Oak-Aged Rioja, a classic red from Old Spain. It’s crafted by Javier Murúa, who learned the art of winemaking from his father Julián. Dad still runs the business and oversees grape growing. Their skills and experience come the fore in this very easy-drinking Rioja, which has the perfect balance of ripe red fruit flavours and vanilla oak richness.
Next, there’s Stones & Bones, an incredibly juicy red from a remarkable estate near Lisbon where a huge haul of dinosaur fossils has been unearthed. Touriga Nacional, the backbone of vintage port, joins forces with Syrah, Tinta Roriz and Alicante to produce truly mammoth, rich fruit flavours. Equally impressive is the winemaker, Diogo Sepúlveda, who relaxes after work by cycling, playing football, or, more unusually, bull wrestling!
Then you have something extra special to savour with HJ Fabre Barrel Selection Malbec, a red of superb depth and complexity from one of Argentina’s most aristocratic producers. Hervé Fabre and wife Diane swapped the manicured vineyards of Bordeaux for Patagonia in the 1990s and brought with them Cru Classé credentials and knowhow – all underlined in this magnificent, lavishly oaked Malbec.
Your whites are just as impressive. The Hour-Teller reveals the class and pure fruit-filled joy of New Zealand Sauvignon. And it also shows that there is great Kiwi Sauvignon to be found beyond the world-famous region of Marlborough. For this wine Laithwaite’s ventured into the vineyards of North Island’s East Coast region. All the dazzling tropical fruit intensity you’d expect from New Zealand Sauvignon, with extra freshness, zip and zing.
Portugal is a wine nation that tends to go under the radar of the big supermarkets. But it’s a treasure trove of fruit-packed, delicious wines and one of its most exciting whites is Aluado Chardonnay. Made by Portuguese winemaking great, José Neiva Correia, this gorgeously round white has won two top Gold medals. An absolute revelation that you’ll love, from first zingy, peachy mouthful to last. And a great alternative to the rich, round (and very expensive) Chardonnays of Burgundy.
Finally, there’s The Rustler, a breezy South African Chenin Blanc loaded with mouth-watering citrus flavours. Chenin has really put the Western Cape region on the world wine map and this up-lifting delight from Gerhard Swart is a belter. Gerhard is also a very handy surfer, so what better way to round off your case than with a bottle of his life-affirming, classic Cape white!
