Personalities or Policies?

Print Friendly

Labour have said that in the upcoming election they will focus on the policies and issues rather than on the personalities and will not be featuring David Cameron on any billboards, and not use negative personal campaigning.

Douglas Alexander, the Labour election strategist, has said that they had information that the Conservative party had purchased a lot of Billboard poster sites that will possibly be used to ridicule Labour leaders.

In the last election in 2010 labour did the same thing to the Conservatives by using David Camerons face on posters and online.

What’s your view … should the General Election be about policies rather the personalities?

Vote for the wrong policies and you have ahead of you 5 years of suffering!
But what about a strong leader - bring back Thatcher!

I agree with 'daydreams' - but it's the policies that should come first.

Whilst policies would always be my main reason for choosing who gets my vote, I do think that you need someone with a strong personality to be able to get their point across, to lead their party.

Policies are what underpin party activities, but it's vital to have a strong leader who can make reasoned decisions. Where would we have been without Churchill?

In a lot worse place than we are now...thats for sure!

I think they should stop blaming each other and concentrate on actually doing something.

In a five year spans they arrive
2 years of blame
"It was their fault they claim".
2 years of shame
"We did it, but won't do it again"
1 years of promising
things they will change.
After the election comes round,
it all starts again!

Yes that would make a refreshing change...They are now so worried about new parties like SNP and UKIP they are stopping the blame game a bit

I think if I had beaker from the Muppet show as the public facing leader of my party, I'd be trying to push focus away from personality too... Fair play to the spin doctors trying to make out that this is based on moral high ground, though.

Jokes aside, you're voting for a party, not just one member (did anyone vote Gordon brown in?). So for me it has to be based on party policy, as well as the vast array of people they employ.

God help us if we end up with a UKIP backbench bigot brigade. *cough* Matthew Richardson *cough*

I think its naive to think that its either personalities or politics...the 2 go together and most really successful politicians have a them or hate them
