Cheltenham’s Big Day Out

As the months keep on rolling, the festive period is around the corner, and it is the most wonderful time of year for any sports fan.

New Year’s Day is the perfect place to begin your 2020, and get your year off to a flyer at the racecourse for Cheltenham’s big day out.

As the town heads to Prestbury Park to start the year the only way they know how, with a spot of racing and clearing their head from the evening before. The racing on the day is hot enough to warm up the coldest of January afternoons. Last year’s raceday produced a number of key horses to keep an eye on at The Festival™ presented by Magners.

With The Hipcats playing throughout the course, there is quality entertainment off the course too. The famous Family Fun Zone was a firm favourite with the local crowd. This year we will see Madagascar’s Alex the Lion and Skipper the Penguin make appearances in the Family Fun Zone throughout the day. Budding jockeys will be able to take on one another with Sam’s Funky Fun Horse Hopper races, or get their face painted by Cheltenham Face Painters, and go home with a balloon made by Twistopher & Twistina. With all the Family Fun Zone entertainment being inside and under one roof, it is the perfect place to escape from the winter chill and give your little ones something to talk about as they enjoy performances from magician Showtime Shane throughout the afternoon. Don’t forget – under 18s can come racing for free to all our racedays (excluding The Festival.)

The Centaur keeps the celebrations going after racing with live music for all Club/Tattersalls ticket holders. This year we look forward to Cheltenham regulars, Tommy and The Fuse taking to the stage in front of a packed audience with a number of classics to keep the party in full swing. Try not to think about the back to work blues and enjoy your final day with friends and family during the Festive season.

Head over the Cheltenham.co.uk to find out more details about Cheltenham’s big day out and welcome in 2020 the only way that we know how – an extraordinary day at the races.
