Give Your Memories a New Lease of Life

Print Friendly

Namesmith specialises in producing one-off, personalised gifts celebrating life’s special occasions.

One of the most appreciated services they provide is the restoration of old, faded and damaged photos.

The impact of receiving a gift from a restored photo, on a canvas or framed print, cannot be underestimated and has been known to reduce grown men to tears. Whether a restored photo of a lost relative, or a historical portrait from the First World War, cherished memories are given the loving care needed to restore them to their original glory.

The Namesmith Design Team will smooth out creases, mend cracks, repair tears and lost corners and return the image to its original vibrancy. As part of their standard service Namesmith will contact you to clarify your requirements and discuss options. As part of their commitment to you, proofs will be sent for your approval before committing to print. The result is a canvas [or print if you prefer], hand-stretched and using archival quality pigments, to display on the wall and preserve those memories for you.

These images were rediscovered after many years in the loft of the family home. The lady’s portrait had to be scanned immediately, as the board she was printed on was laden with dry rot! Once scanned, NameSmith digitally repaired the edges, restored the borders and improved the colour. The finished canvas was gratefully and emotionally received by the family.

If you have a box of faded, torn and neglected photos or slides in the attic, why not send them to NameSmith for a new lease of life.

NameSmith founder, Alison Jones, says:

“We have been trusted by customers, disgruntled by the treatment from high-street retailers and produced quality images from something they thought was irreparable.”

Customers say:

“Every attention to detail was given …. to ensure that I would be getting exactly what I was after.”

Julie W

“Would recommend NameSmith to anyone, they provide a bespoke service … The communication was excellent, they were fast to respond and more than happy to help”

Namesmith also offers image editing, enhancement and design services including creation of montages and multi-photo designs. Such designs work especially well for lots of grandchildren and pets!

Other services include NameArt sampler and nursery designs for newborns, cool graffiti wall canvases for teenagers and biographical artwork for weddings and anniversaries.

We've had a few enquiries re pricing of our restorations. Most of our restorations come in at around £30, plus the price of the canvas.

It is however, very much dependent on how much restoration work is required and the size of the product you select to put the resulting image on.

To give you an idea, the images in the article came in at £30 for the lovely lady and £20 for her soldier husband, for the restoration alone.

Hope that helps!
