Grandchildren say the sweetest things

Reading to a grandchild can be a special experience that helps you build a strong bond together. But what happens if you have a sight condition that stops you from seeing the words on the page clearly?

In this film, we’ve asked five children what they love about reading with their grandparents. And you’ll discover that this experience is just as special, even when the child or the grandparent has sight loss.

To make sure they don’t miss out on exciting tales and heart-warming stories, Rosie, Leo, Kurtis, Edward, Ami and Isabella describe how they share their favourite reading moments with their grandparents; using Talking Books, RNIB’s audio book library service, giant print books and braille.

With your help, we want to help more people with sight loss enjoy reading. That’s why last November, RNIB made their Talking Books service free to use. Now, people of all ages who are experiencing sight loss or are registered blind can have the same opportunity to read thousands of books for free.

Watch this loveable film and share your favourite photos, film clips or comments about reading moments on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #bookschangelives.
