Clever uses for denture tablets

Denture tablets are a simple and inexpensive way to keep your dentures clean and free from bacteria – and that’s not all they’re good for.

These versatile tablets also have a number of other clever uses. Here’s a few of our favourites.

Clear mineral deposits

If mineral deposits are leaving cloudy rings on your glasses or flower vases that are difficult to remove, try denture tablets. Fill your glass or vase with water, drop in a tablet and leave to dissolve. Rinse and clean the glass as normal – the cloudy mineral deposits should easily clear away.

Polish jewellery

If silver or gold jewellery has lost its sparkle, denture tablets make a great substitute for jewellery cleaner when you don’t have any to hand. Fill a glass with water and drop a tablet in, along with your rings or other jewellery. Leave it to sit for a few minutes, then remove and rinse.

Remove tea and coffee stains

If your favourite mugs have the tell-tale coffee or tea rings on the inside that won’t seem to clear, try denture tablets. Drop one into your mug and pour warm water over. Leave it to sit for a few minutes then scrub as usual.

Unclog a drain

Slow moving drains can be solved in a pinch with denture tablets. Drop three tablets into the sink – crush them up if necessary – then follow with a cup of white vinegar. Leave it for about ten minutes, then rinse the drain with hot water until the clog is gone.

Clean the kettle

If hard water is leaving mineral deposits in your kettle or coffee maker, you can use denture tablets to solve the problem. Drop one or two into the kettle then fill with water and leave to soak. Wash thoroughly – mineral deposits should clear away easily.
