Primula Veris

Primula Veris

Primula Veris, also known as ‘Cowslip’, is an old-fashioned wildflower widely loved by traditional gardeners. With Cowslip in danger of disappearing from our countryside due to the decline in natural meadows, now is the perfect time to create your own little nature reserve at home! In return, you’ll be treated to pretty clusters of bright yellow, delicately scented flowers above rosettes of soft green leaves. For those curious about cooking, the leaves of cowslip have been traditionally used in Spanish cuisine as a salad green, and the flowers are used to flavour English country wine! Primula Veris is also the proud recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit winner.

Primula Vulgaris

Primula Vulgaris

The primrose is perhaps one of our most loved and familiar native flowers, heralding spring with pretty clusters of pale lemon flowers nestling amongst rosettes of green foliage. Primula Vulgaris is ideal for beds and borders, patio pots and even containers, so you can enjoy this lovely scented variety regardless of your outside space. They’re also great for naturalising, can thrive in shady areas and satisfyingly fast growing. If you’re looking for plants that are attractive to pollinators, the primrose will provide a wonderful habitat for bees and other beneficial insects. Don’t believe us? Ask our little friend here!
