Spring butterflies – how many have you spotted so far?

A sure sign that spring is here is the emergence of overwintering butterflies in search of early pollen and I’m sure the eagle-eyed amongst you may already have spotted one or two, but would you know how to identify them?

In order to help we have put together a selection of some of the first butterflies you may be able to see either from your windows or garden.

The first butterflies of the year include:
