Wisley, Surrey
Enjoy almost 100 eccentric characters on the WI Scarecrow Trail, 19 July – 18 August. Find your favourite from over 60 innovative designs in the Surrey Sculpture Society Trail, 24 August – 29 September. Browse specialist nurseries, see the National Dahlia Society Show and a spectacular flower arranging display from Surrey NAFAS at the Wisley Flower Show 4 – 8 September.
Harlow Carr, North Yorkshire
Discover how Harlow Carr was transformed from a Victorian Spa to an RHS Garden on a summer tour (Wednesdays at 11am in July & August). Take in the sights and scents at the acclaimed National Sweet Pea Show (13 – 14 July). Shakespearean delights will be played out on the lawns on 16 & 17 July at 7pm or enjoy lazy Sunday afternoons in August relaxing to live music in the garden.
Hyde Hall, Essex
Bring a picnic and enjoy A Midsummer Night’s Dream on 20 July at 7pm (booking essential). Over 50 exhibitors including RHS Show medal-winning nurseries at the Hyde Hall Flower Show, 1 – 4 August. See a collection from the Chelmsford Art Society in their summer Exhibition, 9 – 11 August.
Rosemoor, Devon
A Book Fair on July 14 starts Poetry & Book Week until 19 July. Two outdoor theatre performances of ‘The adventures of Mr Toad’ on 14 July and 1 Aug are sure to delight audiences of all ages. Vintage vehicles together with an antiques and collectors fair are centre stage for Vintage Weekend on 20 & 21 July.
