London Fashion Week .. Grey Best Dressed List!
It’s London Fashion Week and the fun and buzz just keeps on going for our capital…The Jubilee, Olympics, Paralympics and now the worlds attention is on London again, for being the host of London Fashion Week with all of the worlds greatest designers keen to promote their latest creations. The Saturday Times magazine today (15th September 2012) has a brilliant feature entitled “Grey Best-Dressed List 2012”, in keeping with the ethos of fashion maybe they should have called it “Silver Fashion”!
Its worth buying a copy of the Times today if your interested in fashion for the over 50s or go online (you will need to pay for The Times online but its great value). The articles first paragraph starts with…
Wrinkles are the new dewy youth. Eighty-something is the new teenage. How did this happen? A perfect storm of an ageing but still solvent population, shifting ideas on what it means to be old any more, of 70 being the new 50, of 54 year old Madonna’s stage outfits, of 100 being entirely achievable…of delayed retirement and silver surfers and a proliferation of oldie-dedicated street-style blogs.
The article features 30 of the best dressed “Silverhairs” with pictures … its brilliant! With icons such as The Rolling Stones Keith Richards, Bill Nighy the actor and the beautiful actresses, Helen Mirren and Charlotte Ramping. The fashion world should focus more on us Silverhairs; after-all there are 22 million of us and we like looking great!
Are you feeling dewy and youthful?
