Is Now The Time To Consider Retiring Abroad?
Every time we have a poor summer or find ourselves in the depths of a British winter, many people start to wonder whether they should retire abroad.
The climate is a major draw for Brits deciding to retire abroad, but the lifestyle that goes with the climate is also part of the attraction. Golf, water sports, long walks in the sunshine, and alfresco dining with close friends are part of the image of retirement for many. However, the price of property and the cost of living can be an additional incentive.
Estimates range from 10% of people in the UK considering retiring abroad to over 30%, but whatever the figure this is clearly an option considered by many. The Credit Crunch in 2008 followed by the uncertainties of Brexit has disrupted the flow, but demand is expected to continue with the ever-increasing number of people approaching retirement age.
Retire Abroad Roadshows
Retirement anywhere can be a major adjustment for anyone after a long working life: this is even more so if you decide to retire to a different country with a very different culture and lifestyle. Despite this there has been no event to date focussing on all the issues that anyone planning to retire abroad needs to consider. Expat Network have announced a new series of Retire Abroad Roadshows to fill this gap. Tickets have now been released for events in:
- London – Epsom Racecourse: 28th September 2019
- Birmingham – Forest of Arden Marriott: 5th October 2019
- Manchester – Renaissance Manchester City Centre: 26th October 2019
Tickets are currently available at the early bird price of £18 for a single ticket and £32 for a couple and include attendance at the event, the opportunity to arrange a one-to-one meeting with members of the expert panel as well as a buffet lunch and all refreshments throughout the day.
Expat Network has agreed with Silversurfers for the first 50 people registering to get free tickets and anyone registering by 15th August to get a 50% discount on these tickets. To get the free tickets or to take advantage of this discount, when ordering your tickets you will see the option to ‘Enter Promotional Code’. Please click on this link and enter the code: Silver2019
Retire Abroad Survey
Expat Network are carrying out research into the plans and concerns of those considering retiring abroad as well as gathering information about the experiences of those who have already done so.
We have set up a short online survey which takes only a few minutes to complete. The answers to the survey will be used to provide people with more information about the issues they should consider as they plan their retirement. Responses are completely anonymous, and this data will not be shared with anyone else.
The responses will also be used to ensure that our upcoming series of Retire Abroad Roadshows covers the specific issues and concerns of people planning to retire overseas.
Everyone completing the Expat Network Retire Abroad Survey will have the opportunity to be entered in a draw for a £100 Amazon voucher. Please take part by clicking on the link below!
