High Tide at Crescent Beach
This descriptive poem was written by Irene Kerr after one of her adventures on the Canadian coastline …
High Tide at Crescent Beach
The autumn tide was in much higher than before
It covered seaweeds and driftwood lined up along the shore
The dark clouds gathered overhead, the sea looked cold and grey
No boats were on the water out to fish that day
The seascape was amazing despite its somber mood
The salty air we inhaled our spirits were renewed
Life teemed in the water hidden from our view
Tiny crabs and minnows grey whales and orcas too
The seashells we came to gather burrowed in the sand
We’d return another day to hold them in our hand
It began to pour as had been forecast
The rain lashed on the water the storm was there to last
The pull of the ocean and the seagulls cry
Released our endorphins that produce a natural high
Everyone has a go to place that allows their soul to fly
Whether it’s a mountain view or vistas sea to sky
Where they may be laid to rest or scattered on the breeze
Among the briny ocean waves or nestled under trees
Until then carpe diem dear friends and enjoy the view
Share it with your loved ones and their time with you.
