The Spider

Here is a witty poem written by Mike Rose about an incident with a spider!

The Spider

There’s spider in the bath and he’s big and hairy
And that is something that I could find quite scary
He’s not one I would like to squish
Perhaps I can catch him under this dish

No I could not get him under that
Now he’s hiding behind the bath tap
So how do I get him out of there?
Maybe I will try and give him a scare

Off he shoots right up the wall
I can’t get to him now I’m not that tall
There he is running across the ceiling
I’ll not catch him up there well that’s my feeling

Now he’s hanging off the bathroom light
If he drops on my head that will be a fright
Then I see him swinging to and fro
Where is the next place he will go?

There he’s landed on the shower door
If only he would drop down on the floor
Maybe I could catch him there
But no I just have to stand and stare

Wow now he headed for the sink
I can catch him there I think
But no he’s too fast for me
I think he’s landed on my knee

I brush him off there with much aplomb
Perhaps now I should call my mum
But mums are scared of spiders too
Whatever is it we can do?

At last he’s landed on the floor
Over there by the bathroom door
Now I have him he’s in the dish
It’s good him I did not have to squish

Now how do I get him outside?
Some cardboard under the dish I’ll slide
Now it is outside he is taken
And so out of the dish he is shaken

I’m not the only one to have a scare
I’ve gone outside completely bare
I was to take a shower you see
So did not have any clothes on me

It’s good to know this is not really true
So I will not really be scaring you
It’s a poet story to be told
While he sits here growing old
