SilverSurfer Queen!

This amusing poem was written especially for us by Suzanne Kelsey.

Suzanne is a very talented lady, and writes poetry about many poignant subjects; you can read more of her poetry, by clicking on the link below under her  Bio.

This one is about a Techno granny!

SilverSurfer Queen!

I bought my dear gran a tablet today
To add to her ever increasing collection
Bless her she has caught a terrible bug
And developed some strange addiction

She already has an iPad with retina display
That I thought was to treat her cataracts
Bu it’s for her face time video recording
With additional ‘clear pixel density’ facts

She has traded in her old lap top
And it is definitely not for a lap dog
As long as she doesn’t become a lap dancer
With her own web site and personal blog

I normally borrow a paperback off her
When I go off on my summer holidays
But she has replaced it with a ‘kindle’
To light her fire in so many different ways

She stores all her data in a cloud
And says she likes blue sky thinking
Whilst she skypes all her worldwide web friends
Without as much as blinking

She sends out tweets with her smart phone
And posts on facebook with great success
She has become a key board warrior
To ensure social justice and save the NHS

She takes photographs with her digital camera
And makes herself look 21 again
Using the miracle of photo shop
Without any extortionate cost or pain

She has joined a group called SilverSurfers
For over 50s who are pretty savvy and wise
She has contributed some of her writing
And hopes to win a prize

Yes my dear old gran has left me behind
Despite the fact I am a ‘know it all’ teen
Because instead of acting like an OAP
She has become an incredible techno Queen!

Suzanne Kelsey

I am now (reluctantly) reitred from my work as a teacher/lecturer which has been a very long and happy career that focused on education, child development, dance, drama and teacher training. I was also a health and fitness tutor and contemporary dance teacher in my spare time! I love tai chi, photography, music, dance, theatre, reading, walking, mindfulness/meditation, social media and learning something new every day. I write poetry to raise money for good causes. I am passionate about campaigning for social justice and saving our NHS here in the UK. I also love my partner, my family and my friends and like to spend as much time with them as possible.
