THE DRAYCOTT HOTEL:

The Draycott Hotel occupies three lovingly restored red-brick Edwardian homes just around the corner from Chelsea’s Sloane Square and Kensington.

This romantic town house evokes the sense of old world elegance and relaxed intimacy you cannot help but fall in love with.

Personal touches such as complimentary tea and homemade biscuits at 4:00pm, champagne at 6:00pm, hot chocolate at 9:30pm and an honesty bar in the lounge add to The Draycott’s charm. With staff on hand to satisfy your every whim, the Draycott will become your very own indulgent and luxurious home away from home.

As a guest at the Draycott Hotel, you’ll enjoy rest and respite in a choice of 35 luxurious, tasteful and individually decorated boutique suites. Steeped in Edwardian splendour, each room is theatrically themed and adorned with Victorian antiques. Most of the suite rooms have their own cosy fireplace and many offer a view of the tranquil private garden to which guests have exclusive access.

Originally built in 1890 these three neighbouring properties were later extensively renovated under the watchful eye of interior designer Rupert Lord, making this Cadogan Gardens address the perfect peaceful retreat. Further improvements have been done just this year, 2012, with Nina Campbell’s refurbishment of The Draycott’s Lounge and planned works on later in the year.

Location

Staying at the Draycott Hotel in London’s fashionable Chelsea is a home from home experience. A real country-style bolt-hole poised between Chelsea and Knightsbridge in the heart of London, the Draycott combines the grandeur of the past with the luxuries and convenience of today. The Draycott Hotel (formerly Cliveden Town House), occupies three red-brick Edwardian homes in Cadogan Gardens, just round the corner from Sloane Square. The myriad of specialist luxury goods stores of Knightsbridge, Sloane Street and the Kings Road are all within easy walking distance and a growing number of excellent and acclaimed restaurants are also just a stone’s throw away.

Design

Originally built in the 1890’s and with extensive refurbishment between 1996 and 1998, overseen by interior designer Rupert Lord, these three neighbouring late Edwardian houses in Cadogan Gardens were restored to become an elegant, graceful and amazingly peaceful place to stay. Steeped in Edwardian spendour with high ceilings and fireplaces, each room is theatrically themed and adorned with Victorian antiques. Rooms are named after theatre legends and each is decorated in honour of its namesake – be it Sheridan, Coward, Grenfell or Ashcroft – rooms feature prints, posters, photographs and a miniature biography of the impresario in question.

Facilities

The Draycott boasts 35 beautifully appointed and furnished rooms and suites with nightly rates starting from £260 for a double room, a competitive price for such a prestigious location in London. Rooms at the back of the property have the added bonus of looking out over a gorgeous garden square – particularly delightful when the cherry trees are in blossom. The Draycott welcomes children and has a number of family suites available that enable guests to take over an entire floor of the hotel for exclusive use. There are also various adjoining room options ideal for families with younger children and some really fun themed single/bunkbed rooms, perfect for the younger clientele.

One unique service that sets The Draycott Hotel apart from many London hotels is that it offers all guests complimentary afternoon tea with a selection of homemade biscuits, a glass of champagne before dinner and hot chocolate served before bed! Whether you enjoy these treats in the privacy of your own room, relaxing in the Library or in the beautifully decorated Drawing Room – the choice is yours!

Life at the Draycott

The Draycott offers exceptional and highly personalised service akin to staying with friends at a lovely house in the country. The cosy ambiance of the breakfast room, is the perfect place to devour a hearty breakfast and can be enjoyed with friends, family or business associates. Whilst the Draycott does not have a formal restaurant, guests are invited to choose from an enticing selection of food from their 24 hr room service menu and can opt to eat in the Library, Drawing Room or in the privacy of their own room.

Chef George’s cuisine includes Grilled Supreme of Salmon, Home Made Shepherd’s Pie and Chef’s Mushroom Stroganoff. However, if there is something else you would like that is not on the menu, he will try his very best to accommodate every last request.

Private Hire of Number 22 Cadogan Gardens

Business or leisure guests can travel back in time to when Number 22 Cadogan Gardens was a private home by hiring the house in its entirety for a prestigious corporate event or a very special private function. Number 22 has its own separate entrance from the street, so select gatherings need never be bothered by the hotel’s other guests. Inside, Number 22 encompasses 10 suites.

Out and About

Not only is The Draycott perfectly located for some of London’s best shopping and gourmet delights, Chelsea is also home to a number of small art galleries and museums such as Leighton House and Linley Sambourne House. The Chelsea Physic Garden should also not be missed. Music lovers will appreciate the nearby Cadogan Hall – a new concert venue that has recently undergone an extensive and extremely elegant refit, re-emerging as the London headquarters of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The Draycott’s central location makes it the ideal place to stay for those visiting London for events such as The Chelsea Flower Show and Wimbledon and with the hotel offering a number of exciting packages including Explore London and Theatre Galore there really is no better place to stay!

Children and Families

The Draycott is very child friendly – as there are a selection of bedrooms and suites to accommodate most requests. The suites and deluxe doubles are large enough for a pull out bed for children up to the age of 11, complimentary.  Some bedrooms may accommodate an additional pull out bed, for children up to 11. The deluxe doubles are adjacent to single bedrooms, which are ideal for families.

On arrival, a toy box will be available throughout the stay.  There is access to the private gardens from the Drawing Room or the ground floor suite/double bedroom and wellies are provided!

The Concierge team would be happy to arrange sightseeing tickets or activities either prior or during the guests’ stay.  Chef George is happy to arrange for any children’s menus on a request basis.  Babysitting service is also available by prior arrangement.
