Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?Felix..there will very likely be organised groups willing to help out within your area. Have you heard of Next Door? Join up and see what's out there. Also your local council will have information on vomunteer groups. Im sure you'll find someone to take your cat to vet. Good luck&let us know how you get on.. Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months? The latest Ive read on Govt website is that healthy over70s CAN go out to shop for essentials(recommended at quieter times to aid distamcibg)..take sensible walks, again keep our distance. I will be unhappy if I have to call on a 69year old to help with my shopping..Im 71.ViewDate:

Would you consider singing as an alternative to medication?Hi Lionel..just read your amusing comment. Have you thought of sticking with baritone? ..a la Paul Robeson songs..Lee Marvin..they'd love I was born under a Wandering Star.! Jim Reeves..or even better, Mario Lanza(taken down a pitch) Honestly I'm sure you would bring a lot of people a lot of pleasure. I too was a choirboy for a time, singing in Latin&English. I imagine being a chorister you attained a high standard back then in London? I encouraged people in my comment who could sing and play an instrument to seek out carehomes in their vicinity.. of course solo singing is a thing in itself(I need my guitar to hide behind as well as for accompaniment!) I think you would be pleasantly surprised by the reception you would get. Plus you can earn £30-40 for an hour..though you may decide to do it for free which is fine. Anyway good luck with your musical endeavours Regards PeterViewDate:

Would you consider singing as an alternative to medication?I totally agree with the findings in this article. As it happens, I play in a duo that has a lot of care home engagements where many of the residents have various incapacities inc Alzheimers&dementia. We notice that on certain songs(usually from 40s 50s 60s there is a marked change in the countence of these residents and we notice too that previously silent they will sing and/or mouth the lyrics..it's very uplifting for them AND us. We don't actually do Reminiscing Therapy, merely sing songs that most older people remember. I'm 71next birthday&my playing buddy is 68 so our combined repertoire is fairly extensive. Just thought I'd share this to anyone who can sing&play an instrument and who would like to help others...there are probably many carehomes in your area who would be happy to book you..btw even singing along with CD backing tracks is fine..the main thing is to be seen actually singing,as that in itself is pretty contagious. Your local authority would have lists of homes that you could trawl through..just ring them up and take it from there..many homes have activities staff, something you could mention on 1st phone call. Do you think St George’s Day and St David’s should be made national holidays?Have just found Speakers Corner. I read your comments with much interest. Like you Ive had a longtime interest in Germany between the wars and just how completely the National Socialists infiltrated ALL strands of society..inc the boyscouts. If what you have observed is true.i.e there is a similar thing could be happening quietly here I'd say it doesnt surprise me. Given the opinion of now deceased UN Head of Global Migration Peter Sutherland that national identity is a bar to future EU stability. Dressed up as one of the '4Freedoms..freedom ov movement is the genie hidden in the lamp that is actually planned population replacement all across the continent& and aided&abetted by EU placemen/women(already bribed) in each country(Blair in UK a prime mover) This plan has been a major deception and that fact is the main contributor in the awakening of peoples anger&resentment. Sorry to ramble somewhat trying to be brief with a vast problem.. This is before we get to the kinds of people waived through our borders..all sorts of workshy criminals of every descriprion with no background checks shoehorned in vast numbers amongst our indigenous population.. This is NOT to say that honest hardworking people with good intentions and of similar cultural backgrounds and in manageable numbers should not be welcome to our country.. Im also a keen follower of Douglas Murray and though his main subject is somewhat different, his opinion on our Govts collusion through naivety and sheer incompetence that gas lead to our own nationals are put in harms way rings so true. It's now basically a battle between the law abiding and their antagonism towards those that make decisions that fly in the face of all that should be assumed as good governance.ViewDate:

Best Beatles SongsHello Rachel..I've just joined silver surfers 5minute ago..and found the Beatles probably my favourite band! I'm part of 3outfits playing music in carehomes and also ordinary gigs. Are there other musicians I can contact in silversurfers? I'm also interested in finding solo travellers who may like to meet up in Rome 17-26 August. Any advice? Regards Peter (CiaoP) -
