Should smoking be banned outside pubs and cafes?I find it much worse to be sitting outside a cafe or pub breathing in filthy traffic fumes from the road than other people's ciggie smoke! I don't drive, never have, but have no issue with those who want to. Same with smoking, as long as it's in the open air. Live and let live!ViewDate:

Will you be called upon to help with childcare if schools shut?Hubby and I are the sole "support network" for our daughter, so of course will be stepping in to look after our granddaughter as we usually do. We are both late 60's, and I am partially-sighted, have MS and other health issues, but I would only be worried if I actually contracted the virus, not worried I might die from it but that it might exacerbate the MS symptoms (fatigue and muscle cramps) which would interfere with the enjoyment of my lovely granddaughter!!! On a lighter note, we have plenty of loo rolls, so we should be okay! (Can't understand how loo rolls have become the must-have for a flu virus, it's the top end that's affected).ViewDate:

Introducing the 'sandwich generation'I am definitely a sandwich! My husband and I are in our mid-sixties, and we're finding our resources stretched to the limit, with very little time or money for ourselves. My husband cannot afford to retire for at least five years. We live in the South East, husband from the Midlands, myself from the Northwest, so our families are spread across the country. Caring for our elderly parents (and providing financial and emotional support) has dominated the last ten years, and we now have five grandchildren, and a sixth due. We are now required to provide childcare while our children work, as well as financial support and practical things like DIY and transport when necessary. Fortunately we are both in good health and able to fulfil the family needs, but we have virtually no life ourselves. The burden on the baby-boomer generation is huge, and I don't suppose we can look forward to anything like this kind of support should this change, as the other three generations are so needy!!! How good it feels to air this, I'm sure we aren't the only couple who are left wondering what happened to "retirement" and the golden years!!!!
