10 advantages and disadvantages of grandparents looking after their grandchildrenOlder /extended/'adopted' family have always featured to help out with children if and when living proximity allowed. In my childhood there were no Nurseries or 'Childcare Facilities' - nor did family live close by, but we had 'adopted' Nana & Dad, or Aunties & Uncles who would step in from time to time. We learned a lot from them, and I think we kept them active. It was a 'win/win' arrangement, but only because my parents never took any of them or their help for granted, and they usually supported any chastisement (never severe) if we had misbehaved whilst in their care or their company. Similarly when my own Mum retired and watched her 5 Grandchildren 2 days per week during school holidays; we were so grateful, and the children still have memories of Nannie's sweet jar, Nannie's wild garden, and the shared dens where they played together at Nannie's...always knowing that fights and bad behaviour was a no no!!!!ViewDate:

Should the NHS provide better mental health treatment options for depression?Government could reduce the NHS burden if they treated people fairly; paid workers adequately, and genuinely worked towards a more equal and less divided society. Many mental health issues arise from, and/or are increased by stress and anxiety
