Dottielew's bio
I was born in Tottenham, London, and lived there for almost 4 years, when we moved to Walthamstow. I went to Blackhorse Lane Infant and Junior schools then passed what became known as the 11+ and went to Walthamstow County High for my secondary education.I left there as soon as I could as I hated every minute of it. I met my husband when I was 20 and within 6 weeks we were engaged and married just over a year later. We moved to Rayleigh Essex in 1965 then to Leigh-on-Sea in 1984 and are still living in the same property. We celebrated our Golden Wedding in 2014. I joined the Civil Service when I left school then, after having our 2 sons and at the age of 37, became an undergraduate at the Brentwood campus of London University, studying English, Education and Music. I graduated in 1983 and became a teacher. I did supply teaching for the first term, then got a fulltime job teaching English at The FitzWimarc School in Rayleigh, where I stayed for almost 17 years before having to take early retirement because of a heart condition. I have now been happily retired for almost 18 years, have 3 grandchildren and, for the most part, enjoy my life. With my husband, we are involved in church activities.
