Should the Winter Fuel Allowance be means tested?I agree with you ArchieUK - it's a rediculous proposal. Just imagine the admin associated with means testing all pensioners! If someone feels that they are well off enough that they don't need it, there should be a mechanism that they can decide to put the money back in the system - that would be far simpler.ViewDate:

Do you want another EU Referendum?I think a lot of people who voted leave didn't understand the implications and the complexity of what they were voting for, They were focused on one or two issues and we're only now beginning to understand the wide-reaching impacts. Given another chance to vote many would vote to stay in.ViewDate:

Would you like to see cannabis legalised?I think legalising cannabis is a very sensible way to go forward. At the moment people take stuff and they don't really know what's in it. There is also a lot of ignorance about the addictive aspects of cannabis. I read an interesting article in the Economist years ago which was about research which had identified that certain people have a gene which makes them susceptible to paranoia from cannabis. In other words it doesn't agree with some people and can make them mentally ill. Legalising the drug will also enable the government to raise taxes on it and regulate the quality of the drug.ViewDate:

Is now the right time to hold a snap General Election?JohnHerb: Jeremy Corbyn doesn't just need a new suit and to be photogenic, he may be a sympathetic character, but he is also seems to be out of step with the country. Could you really see him around the negotiating table with Trump?ViewDate:

Is now the right time to hold a snap General Election?I think this is a very gutsy thing for Theresa May to do. She acknowledges that she wasn't elected. I admire her for being a proper politician who wants to carry out the wishes of the people. Gordon Brown certainly didn't have the gumption to do this! Good on ya Theresa!ViewDate:

Do you think Scotland should hold a second referendum? It would be a total wast of time, public money and emotion. The EU would never sanction Scotland having EU membership because it would open the floodgates for other countries like Spain/Catalan. They would always be vetoed. Nicola Sturgeon knows this perfectly well and she needs to move on!ViewDate:

Should companies offer 'Pawternity' leave?Of course everyone would love to have time off if you have a new, young pet, but the bottom line is, how can employers fund this? Maternity and paternity leave can already be crippling for small companies. I think a better option, and something which is beneficial for all employees, would be to allow pets at the office. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that having pets at work creates a much happier atmosphere and everyone is more productive. A win win for everyone!ViewDate:

Should Parliament have the final say on Brexit?I believe in democracy. Although I want to stay in the EU, I respect the majority vote and I believe that parliament represents the people's views. We need certainty - every time there is a wobble it affects the economy negatively. We need to move forward!ViewDate:

Will Donald Trump ‘Make America Great Again’?I think he's a loose canon! Add to that that he has never lived in the 'real' world, having a hugely priviledged upbringing and I don't think he is at all in touch with his electorate. I think he knows how to manipulate his followers, but his random Tweets and comments are hardly what you would expect from the most powerful man in the world. People say that he's a businessman yadda yadda yadda, but the reality is that he inherited everything and the Trump business empire has actually lost money whilst he has been running it. If his father where still at the helm it would be worth many billions more. I hope the US electorate don't live to regret electing Trump - look at the appointments he's making ... he's putting people who have given him money into positions of power, not people who actually know what there doing.ViewDate:

How would you solve the NHS crisis?I think GPs should be far more customer friendly than they are. We are funding them after all! My own surgery is great and I can get an appointment on the same day via their phone appointment booking system. My husband's GP is another matter entirely. You have to ring at 8.30 for an emergency appointment on the same day or they can't see you for 3 weeks - it's hugely stressful, especially if you really are ill. I had another experience when I tore my calf muscle and called my GP when I got home as instructed by the French Doctor who treated me. It took my GP 3 days to call me back despite the fact that I gave the receptionist the diagnosis from the French Doctor. Then, eventhough the injury was several days old, he told me to go to A&E and refused to see me! I think it was because he'd been so bad at getting back to me that he was worried that if I had a thrombosis he would be liable. It's no wonder the hospitals can't cope!ViewDate:

Is sleeping in separate beds the beginning of the end?I don't think sleeping separately is the beginning of the end and I think people should do what works for them. But I don't like sleeping on my own so if my husband isn't there the dogs keep me company. I feel reassured when I hear/feel someone moving around. The main thing which disturbs me is light, so I have blackout blinds and wear and eye mask!ViewDate:

And it's great too because you have to stop drinking to stay within the calorie limit for those days. Let's face it - December has been a complete nightmare with regard to alcohol!ViewDate:

Is the New Years Honours List Outdated?I think it's great to reward people who genuinely help others. It's a sign of recognition. I don't think it's right for public servants who have made a career decision to serve the public to receive honours - it's their job!ViewDate:

Should parents in Britain be banned from smacking their children? Most responsible parents would only resort to a smack when they feel their child has really been naughty. I was smacked three times by my father and I can still remember each occasion and why he smacked me and it was always because I had done something dangerous (like leaning over a balcony) - so it was for my own good. I see so many kids which are uncontrollable that this seems like one of that last ways of keeping some discipline.ViewDate:

Who would you trust more to be the next US President?I think it's extraordinary that a country like America could be going to the polls with two such terrible candidates for President. This is the person who is arguably the most powerful human being in the world. Trump ... really?? Clinton ... really?? I feel sick at the prospect of either. I guess Clinton will be slightly more credible on the world stage because of her political background. Trump is not even a successful businessman. When you look at his business, he may be rich, but he hasn't grown his empire.ViewDate:

Are the school holidays too long?I don't have children, but so many of my friends who do moan about how long the holidays are. They end up sending their children to camps and clubs so that they can carry on working and it's a huge stress and expense. There seems to be a huge fear that children might be bored for 5 minutes! So they pack each day with back to back activities and everyone ends up totally exhausted. I always thought holidays were about recharging the batteries and having a rest!ViewDate:

Would you vote differently in a new EU Referendum?I voted in and I still would vote in. The disunity and lies spread by the leave campaign are only just starting to take effect. I think we're looking at a long and very painful process now. I don't understand why people didn't listen to the economists at least. All those people who think they're going to suddenly get jobs are likely in for a nasty surprise when the economy shrinks and companies start going out of business.ViewDate:

Do you think we’re facing chaos now we’re leaving the EU?Any major change like leaving the EU will cause huge issues, it's totally naive to think otherwise. We are facing years and years of change and uncertainty. We were the fifth largest economy last night. Since the pound devalued we're not, France is.ViewDate:
