Zillah's bio
I am retired and a carer for my husband who has had dementia since 2006 just a year before we retired. I do make sure we visit lots of places, new and old. It’s important to still get out and about. We love to visit open gardens, stately homes and small towns and cities. We can no longer take oversea holidays so have spent the last 10 years visiting the beautiful country that is OUR Britain. It’s a pain being the only driver so we take some coach trips as well. There is so much to see and do in our own “small” island that is beautiful Britain. I have just been awarded a Blue Badge for my husband which makes travelling so very much easier as he can’t walk very far. -

Win a prize bundle worth over £100 from Tupperware Direct!50 years ago, when in my early 20’s, I was a Tupperware party planner. I still have a few things. It was the scariest thing I ever did. Brilliant quality.ViewDate:

Should there be an upper age limit to be a US Presidential candidate? It’s possible for a good president to serve 2 terms. Ideally age 60 in my opinion should be the age limit to run. But possibly 65. Certainly no older.ViewDate:

Should Dominic Cummings resign?I didn’t write this but someone else with a different perspective did. I agree absolutely A man who none of us have met has a wife who is ill with COVID-19 and a toddler to look after. He anticipates, correctly, that he will soon be in a bad state himself with the virus. While he is still in a fit state to arrange transport, he takes his wife and child to self-isolate at a location where younger members of his extended family who were not in an at-risk group (e,g, his sister) were able and willing to care for the toddler if the worst came to the worst and he and his wife became incapacitated. The three of them self-isolated in a separate building from the rest of his family. His elderly parents live close by, but he didn't visit them or anyone else while self-isolating and he wasn't expecting them to provide emergency help with the toddler. Apparently this means he should be sacked, have a media crowd (who weren't socially distancing) outside his front door, and hung drawn and quartered. I'm struggling to see what the problem with his actions is. The risk of transmitting the virus was negligible. In order to take this course of action, an unoccupied building close to his extended family where he could self isolate was needed. That won't be available for most people, so the fact that other families didn't take up an option that wasn't available to them is irrelevant. If this had happened when I still had a young child and I had been in the same situation and had had this option for ensuring its wellbeing if the situation deteriorated (the option wouldn't have been available to me) then I wouldn't rule out taking the same action, and I wouldn't have expected to be sacked for it. As he had some involvement with drawing up the rules, he will know what they are, much better than any of us on here. Whether they were broken is highly debateable. The fact that Piers Morgan thinks they were broken doesn't mean that they actually were. Even if they were, should we really condemn anyone for a possible minor breach that posed negligible risk of virus transmission (which after all is the point of the lockdown) done to ensure safety of their child. If others now commit blatant breaches with no extenuating circumstances that do risk increased transmission because of this, then perhaps the media should reflect on their reporting of it.ViewDate:

Should Dominic Cummings resign? No it was his wife’s birthday whilst he was there. You may be mixing him up with Stephen Kinnock who drove from London to Wales back in the same month for his father’s birthday!!! He wasn’t sacked.ViewDate:

Should Dominic Cummings resign? There is also Stephen Kinnock (travelled from London to Wales in March for his Dads birthday). and the MP for Birmingham Green (attended a funeral last Wed with over 100 mourners —. oh that’s ok he apologised). who broke the rules for no urgent purpose. Kier Starmer has the audacity to call for DC’s sacking/resignation. Why has he not sacked these 2. There is a hidden agenda behind most of those calling for his resignation. Several of the remoaner conservative MPs want him gone. Most others are of a different political persuasion. Well I for one hope he ain’t going. No one was harmed by his actions ( were they?). which to him were in his child’s best interests. We are all grown ups. We don’t need to stop self isolating and keeping a distance because we THINK he didn't. He kept a distance from his elderly parents. He self isolated.ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi I’m a 73 year old carer for a very dear husband who has had dementia for 14 years. Next year 2020 I would love to take a weeks holiday in Croatia. I’ve never been and it’s somewhere I would love to go. It’s been a hard 14 years and I need a respite. It’s time as things are getting hard to cope with. I get a bit nervous in airports and it would be great to have a travelling companion. I love walking and good food and wine. I don’t mind whether a male or female companion. Just a new friend and someone to share the experience with. I live in south Leicestershire.ViewDate:
