Do you think 'grid girls' should be banned in F1?People dictating what Ladies should and should not do as it seems to conflict with their politically correct views!ViewDate:

Do you wear your poppy on the left or the right? When I was in the Royal Air Force, Left is the side they made you wear the poppy on.ViewDate:

Do your pets get distressed with the sound of fireworks?Got a Terrier (Cross between a Yorkie and a Cairn). Not bothered at all with fireworks, Hot Air Balloons, Gun Fire. He's certainly not deaf (unless he wants to be). He's 12 now and the only thing that really get's him is seeing any form of violence including the TV variety. One of a kind!ViewDate:

The InternetIt was a Briton who actually invented the basis of the Internet and it actually dates back to the 70's. The internet became of age in the early 90's when the language to define web pages was agreed upon by a worldwide consortium. We haven't looked back since. It was a pain in the old Dial up days but since the advent of broadband things has been much easier.ViewDate:

Stargazing. ....cosmologyIf you have a local University of the 3rd Age (U3A) in your vicinity, they usually have an Astronomy Group you could join or alternatively a Local Astronomy Group. It is not necessary to have an expensive telescope to pursue a bit of astronomy, a lot can be done with a pair of Binoculars. BBC's Sky at Night Magazine lists things you can spot with binoculars.ViewDate:

Tablet vs LaptopI agree with you, there is a place for Desktops, Laptops, notebooks, tablets and smart phones. Serious applications are done on a desktop (I have a big monitor cos the wife had cataracts at one time) so it's nice and easy to read. Laptop is used for surfing the web etc, connecting the camera etc, my 2 in 1 (Tablet with a detachable keyboard) can be used with a wireless mouse and demo'ing things to a U3A group I belong to cos it's nice and portable. Android tablet for while I am on holiday as with the smartphone. Trouble is I have too many devices now so I am forever charging this and that just to keep them up together!ViewDate:

Windows 10If you switch off all the sharing Win10 does via settings and tighten up on the communications it does with Microsoft it's not too bad. It's quicker cos it uses Flat Windows instead of the 3D windows but any software designed for 7 and up should work on it ok. The downside is the "Apps" such as Edge and Mail have reduced functionality so I enabled IE11 and installed MS Essentials on it to get a reasonable Mail program. Things usually Lock up or do not work properly in 10 because there was probably an issue with your previous version of windows which you were not aware off. I have found this to be the case in the past especially if there was also a known issue in the previous windows version that the user was hoping to get rid of by upgrading.ViewDate:

Tuition and Technology support at homeIf there is a local U3A (University of the Third Age) club that you can join then they usually have a Computer Group with enough "Experts" that will aid members for free. I help members of my local group with their problems free of charge even going to their houses if it is a desktop or they cannot travel. There are alternatives out there if one has a good idea of where to look but even so IT Student at Home is a good idea.ViewDate:

Shopping for a home computerI'd go for the biggest monitor one could afford, 18.5 inch is a bit small for seniors with not quite so good eyesight!ViewDate:

Shopping for a home computerWhen my desktop failed recently due to motherboard failure, I did an awful lot of research and checking specs etc and ended up buying an Asus multimedia machine. Tons of memory and hard disk space and really easy to set up. I had an advantage though cos I'm a recently retired programmer so I knew what sort of specification I wanted and shopped to fit that spec. There are plenty of websites that offer impartial advice that are worth a look at though.ViewDate:
