Reducing the divide of Smart Phone ownershipSmartphone addiction is now a contagious disease. Whenever I travel on a train or bus I seem to be the only one not aimlessly scrolling through what I call an "idiot maker". I use computers and tablets but fail to see the attraction of "smart" phones. My bog standard mobile is sufficient (and annoying) enough for me. If I was sitting in a pub or restaurant and pulled out a book I would be considered rude, but it seems quite acceptable to pull out a "smart" phone anywhere, anytime. Most of what people do on them seems trivial and pointless, but if you're paying a large monthly contract you're going to use it whether you need to or not. I also resent the way everyone assumes you HAVE one. If you say you don't use one it's as if you've admitted to some vile perversion. You can keep your smartphones for me. If they made them compulsory I think I'd choose jail.
