Win a Simba Hybrid® Mattress worth up to £899 and wake up to a better night’s sleep.I never ever have any luck with prize draws but the old adage is correct you must be in it to win it.ViewDate:

Then and now: changes through the yearsHistorically speaking as a Teenager then a young man my experiences of the 60s and 70s are I suppose wrapped and warped with nostalgia, that said despite some of the hardships thrust upon us particularly during the 70s e.g. mountains of rubbish piling up on the streets and power cuts putting all of that to one side we didn't have the distraction of mobile phones life was a lot simpler back then and in the case of the 60s the age of innocence and romance reflected in the heartfelt yearnings of the music. Alas say I will never see the likes again.ViewDate:

What would you fear missing out on the most? Can any9ne imagine a world without the sight and sounds of birdsong.? I have read that during world war 1 the landscape was so devastated that the birds disappeared altogether. Today I watched a very rare sighting of a thrush in our hegderow took me right back to my childhood when they frequented our garden in numbers. I wonder when 9r if we get to heaven the birds will still be singing. Just a pleasant thought.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsI would like to express my feelings on retirement after in my case 30 plus years working as a Community Psychiatric Nurse. Nearing the time of my final shift at work I recall a few of my colleagues saying you lucky thing wish it was me and I bet you can't wait to spend that lump sum well the lump sum is now gone partly due to. Poor investment advice from a recommended financial advisor. Leaving that aside the first couple of years were good no more shift work, or feeling obliged to stay back to cover staff shortages, by now I'm thinking more and more about the advantages of a job I left behind and missing. So I fill out endless application forms on line and fire of my C v s if I'm lucky some employers will get back to me with a no can do . What hurts most is that if only bigot to the interview stage employers would soon realise that I with my skill set would be an asset to the firm. So I keep scanning indeed and other job sites still wishing and hoping for that illusive interview, and here's the the thing I have evenlowered my sights to include Mc Donalds, Betfred e t c . Thank you and feel free to comment.ViewDate:

Should we have a second EU referendum?I have thought long and hard about this and I as being in the leave camp have now felt differently looking back their was not enough information available in which to make an informed choice and it was solely on the immigration issue . Now we see the debacle of Parliament trying to pass the legislation for Brexit that is acceptable to Europe. So there it is if we have another referendum I expect the majority of l4avers just like me to vote remain.ViewDate:

Searching & Finding People, Friends, Ancestors UKHello All, I'm new here having come across the site on a search of club 18 - 30 website hoping to find archives of a holiday I had with them back in July of 1984 drawing a blank. Undettered I hope to in due course uncover some information to help me further my search. Back in 1984 I just met the criterion of age 30 travelling solo I went on to meet some fantastic people male and female and to this day can still picture a group of them doing the conga through my room. Later on a couple of people tri3d to look me up but as things go I was too busy building a relationship to bother replying which of course I now regret. Well that's me bybthevway of an introduction, and once I get to know the workings of the site better, and grateful for any tips I can get. Thank you Bill
