Would you support a delay to the final EU departure?Brexit supporters have been accused of bring unaware of the facts (Ian an experienced Chartered Accountant and a reasonable understanding of finance, he says modestly), inward looking little Englanders (the EU is very inward looking whereas we have always been a global nation) and old (I was newly qualified when we joined so I cannot being old but it means I have experience before and after our joining the Common Market and remember our being taken ever further into what is now almost a federal set up without our having a say). We hsve been forced to distance ourselves from our traditional trading partners, especially the Commonwealth, and to "overtax" our imports from them to protect inefficient farming methods in other EU countries such as France. We have given up our once profitable fishing industry in favour of other EU members and have suffered from polices, such as setaside.which pays our farmers not to produce so that we import foodstuffs from subsidised producers elsewhere. I do not have the space to comment on the democratic deficit in the EU and the differences in our legal systems and citizens' rights - are they innate or given by the state?. Being older simply means that I am speaking from experience and not fear of the unknown which colours "younger" peoples' views. As a father and grandfather, I have the interests of future generations very much in mind. The Euro, very much a political rather than a financial project, has created poverty and mass unemployment in southern Europe. Need I go on?
