Sleep well during menopauseI'm 71 and still experiencing hot flushes and severe sleep disruption. I find Angus castus by A. Vogel works for me. 20 drops in a little water several times a day to begin with and when symptoms are severe.ViewDate:

Would you move to be closer to grandchildren? When I retired from my career I moved 100 miles to the town where my family live. I'm now involved in before and after school care for my four grandsons two and a half days a week. The downside is I'm tied to being home certain days and weeks. The upside is I'm more hands on with my family. From my closeness to my family I gain as much as I give.ViewDate:

Should women still change their name when they get married?I don't have a preference so haven't voted. My daughter in law has kept her maiden name and added my son' name too to keep her family name from dying out. I can see the logic in that, but I think it would only work for one generation.ViewDate:

Is family still as important as it once was?The ideal is still, I believe, a mum and dad bringing up their children. Publicly this view is now frowned on, but I suspect that privately most people still hold the traditional view. It's not perfect because people are not perfect. Personally I mistrust any country that wants to control childrens upbringing. It used to be that we had freedom to express any view, but that is not the case now. Just saying.ViewDate:

Does the Sandwich Generation need more support?I'm sorry if my comment upset you. I was in that situation several years ago, and am now watching a friend with poor health who has power of attorney for her mother struggle to get the necessary help for her. The resources are becoming more and more stretched, and I don't think there's an easy solution.ViewDate:

Does the Sandwich Generation need more support? However nice it would be to have more 'care' available, the bottom line is there's no money to fund it, end of story.ViewDate:

Was life in the past preferable to today? In the past families were free from state interference and could bring up their children as they saw fit. Communities were much safer, you knew most people, kids were safe out alone. Food was fresher and there was far less pre packed manufactured, mucked-about-with food for sale. Our friends were flesh and blood and we played real games together, not in a virtual world. We took risks in play, got dirty, and survived Terrorism was unheard of. Families on the whole stayed together more than now. Abortion was illegal. There was far more respect for those in authority. Less pollution through less traffic on the roads. On the other hand.... We now have better insulated homes The Internet Highly skilled nhs and emergency services Showers and indoor loos Greater knowledge of the world I dare say some of these will be controversial, but after all, it's just my opinion.ViewDate:

Are gender neutral school uniforms a good idea?what percentage of boys would want to wear skirts? Why should a very small minority have such influence? Where did we lose our common sense?ViewDate:

Do you think Scotland should hold a second referendum? It was a nightmare living through the first referendum. It was so divisive. There were lots of instances of intolerance towards those who tried to defend the 'remain' position. At a local level remain ads were destroyed, and people were insulted and threatened verbally and on social media for supporting 'remain.' Frankly if that's the Scotland Nicola Sturgeon wants I don't want to be part of it. The prospect of going through that again is appalling.ViewDate:

Do you boil your Brussels?I hate boiled sprouts. For a few years now I have been slicing them and adding to stir fries. They add crunch and a lovely green colour. They are also great with diced bacon.ViewDate:

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked or reinstated?I don't care how popular he is or how much he earns the BBC, violence should not be tolerated. There should be consequences for his bad behaviour. He's a grown man in the public eye, and should show respect and restraint. I don't like the modern tendency to overlook bad behaviour, it leads ultimately to chaos.ViewDate:

Are there too many medicines and not enough health? There needs to be far more training for doctors on the part nutrition plays in good health. The answer isn't always that drugs are best, they all have harmful side effects. I get the feeling that big drug companies have far too much influence on what doctors prescribe.
