Should National Service be reintroduced in the UK?I think as an idea its a good one - the lessons learnt are no doubt invaluable for all the reasons everyone has said but it is totally impractical. We are seeing cutbacks within our Armed Forces at the moment and the infrastructure for supporting such a programme simply doesn't exist. Perhaps a better way of engendering some sense of responsibility and purpose would be to make some kind of support/work in the community mandatory.ViewDate:

Are you tempted to plan a digital detox?I have spent a few days this week not particularly using technology and its easy to see how you can lose touch with what is going on around you. Whilst I've never been one constantly attached to my devices the world moves so fast these days you can miss things happening if you don't use it. I'm all for taking a break from it when you are on holiday but otherwise I think I would struggle.ViewDate:

Which party do you trust to manage your pensioner benefits over the next 5 years?Whilst I agree with being able to invest the pension wherever we like I am concerned that the Conservatives are not looking to cut any benefits for the +40% income tax rate - I really think savings can be made there from people that don't need the extra financial support. The LibDem's seem to be a middle ground that looks a little more realistic.ViewDate:

Does making new friends get easier or more difficult as you get older?I agree with Archibald - I feel more confident about talking to people as I have got older. I think you are generally more relaxed about what the outcome will be - it doesn't matter if you don't end up making a friend out of an acquaintance or from a new social situation.ViewDate:

Do you use anti wrinkle cream?I have very sensitive skin and most things seem to cause a negative reaction - I've tried expensive products and cheaper ones but they all seem to cause adverse reactions. I'm always amazed at the range of products that are available - day creams, night creams, anti-wrinkle creams, eye creams, pore creams - I am almost glad I don't really use anything as I'm not sure I could navigate around it all!!ViewDate:

Is 65 too old to become a mother again?I can't imagine why someone would want to have a baby at 65! If she is fit and well enough then I admire her but I agree with Wilf, how will she feel when she looks like her child's grandmother in the school playground.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen?I think if Prince Charles and Princes William and Harry are in agreement then there is no reason why Camilla should not be crowned Queen. Rightly or wrongly having a remarried monarch on the throne is just a reflection of how society is today in a lot of families.ViewDate:

Do you find beards attractive?I don't like the beards that the younger generation are wearing now - short hair and bushy beards it just doesn't look right, all out of balance! I much prefer clean shaven, it shows you have made an effort.ViewDate:

Will you be tuning in to the pre-General Election TV debate?I expect I will watch it as long as it's well balanced and well managed. My question would be around future coalitions - given there is unlikely to be an outright majority win who would each leader work with and why? I'd like to see them answer that face-to-face!ViewDate:

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked or reinstated?Whilst I was not bothered either way with the things he has said in the past I do think that if he has hit someone it does need to be dealt with as it would in any other workplace. I am surprised at the relaxed attitude he and his fellow co-stars are exhibiting though - either they all think they are above reproach or all is not quite what it seems.ViewDate:

Would you like to become a spy?Well with our ability to multi-task and generally a pretty good attention to detail I can see why women would be attractive to the security services - if they could offer flexible working too I reckon it would prove extremely popular!ViewDate:

Should households pay a universal flat-rate fee regardless of whether they own a TV?I don't believe that everyone should pay a levy - if you use the service then fine, but if you don't then you shouldn't have to pay. It's almost like a tax on viewing.ViewDate:

Should MPs have second jobs and other ways to boost their salary?I think it depends on the job. Backbenchers who still have second jobs that means we don't have 'career' politicians are no bad thing but ministers with responsibilities shouldn't have the time between handling their constituencies and their ministerial role. The problem is that the lucrative 'consultancy' roles are probably only on offer to those MP's with the ministerial responsibilities - and it is that type of job that smacks of an abuse of the system.ViewDate:

Are you plagued by nuisance phone calls?Like many others I'm ex-directory, have registered with the TPS and don't put my telephone number on forms but I still get the calls - bizarrely they seem to come at the same time of day each day. I don't answer them any more but I do worry that it might mean I miss an important call. I think the government should do something about it but I also think that the telephone companies should offer caller ID for free instead of charging for the service as that can help screen these calls too.ViewDate:

If money was no object, where would you most like to go for a holidayDefinitely Australia, we were only talking about walking across Sydney Harbour Bridge this morning! To have the time and money to tour around Australia would be amazing - it is vast and there is so much to see it would have to be a once in a lifetime holiday.ViewDate:

Which TV programme/drama location would you most like to visit for a holiday?I have seen a lot of the UK places already - mostly before the programmes made them famous - but Guadeloupe always looks fabulous in the programme and at this time of year a bit of warm sun would be most welcome.ViewDate:

Is it important to know how to use grammar correctly?I think learning grammar (and spelling!) is really important but I sense that with all the auto-correcting that is now possible we all have got a bit lazy. I also agree that with the amount of text shorthand the younger generations may not see the value.ViewDate:

Will you go and see Fifty Shades of Grey?I'm not sure I'll go. I just can't see any chemistry from the trailers between the two actors - I don't much mind whether the story is true to the book but they should at least look convincing!!ViewDate:

Should pregnant women be given vouchers to quit smoking?I think it is outrageous. I wonder how many of these pregnant women go back to smoking after their baby is born? Whilst the benefits during pregnancy may be increased, if those mothers simply return to smoking once the child is born the situation is almost self perpetuating as future generations will grow up thinking smoking around children is perfectly acceptable.ViewDate:

What irritates you the most about mobile phone users?I do think it's sad when a table full of people are all sat looking at their phones rather than each other. As for listening to conversations on public transport - I have to admit unintentional eavesdropping makes my train journeys go faster!ViewDate:

How have you been affected by the NHS crisis?Luckily I haven't been affected but I do think twice about going to the doctor at all anyway as I don't think the level of care is as good as it was - it feels like everything is about targets and bureaucracy.ViewDate:

Are there too many medicines and not enough health?I think the fact that we have made such progress in medicine is great and so many people benefit from those advances. I just hope that as much money is spent looking for cures as it is looking at medicines to help symptoms.ViewDate:

Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?Sitting of an evening writing cards is one of the things that makes me feel Christmassy! I do enjoy the sending and receiving of cards - although I agree it is perhaps something that will decline in years to come.ViewDate:

Should traditional nativity plays include pop songs and aliens?I think it's fine in moderation. As a grandparent of a child who is a little quiet its great that he is allowed to dress up in his favourite Buzz Lightyear outfit and still take part in the telling of a story - otherwise he would probably be a sheep every year! At his school the children do learn christmas carols as well so I think it's a nice mix.ViewDate:

Has Christmas become too commercialised? The world is a much more commercialised place - I think we should embrace the change but make sure we keep our own traditions alive too. Each family has their own way of observing Christmas and maybe we should celebrate those as much as we enjoy giving and receiving gifts.ViewDate:

Online or High Street?Whilst I do shop online to get the best deal I still like to see things in the shops so I can see what I'm getting - especially for expensive purchases - and I'm finding it increasingly frustrating that shops are showing less and less of their stock.ViewDate:

Are you worried about the cost of keeping warm this winter?I'm pretty certain my elderly parents are not aware they could get this benefit. We are pretty good about shopping around for the best energy deal for us and for them but I don't think that many pension age people would be aware of the benefit they could receive.ViewDate:

Do you think the poppies should remain beyond Armistice Day?I won't get the chance to get to London before the poppies are removed and I am really disappointed about that; but I think if they are removed after Armistice Day it beautifully illustrates the fact that we lost so many people before their time...ViewDate:

UK and the EU: Better off out or in?Generally I would have said stay in as I think being a collective power gives us strength, but I am concerned that we seem to be increasingly tied up with laws and regulations that are not working for us and even worse, some are becoming detrimental.
