UK and the EU: Better off out or in?I used to consider myself a committed European, and, indeed ,undertook a one-year course at Bournemouth university to learn Dutch and then spent some time with the VDAB, the Belgian employment service at their HQ in Wevelgem , near Kortrijk (Courtrai ) and even went to Brussels to address a conference of other European employment agencies. However, I have now revised my opinions of the whole over-beaurocratised ,overbearing, self-opinionated SHAMBLES that the EU has become. So ; EFTA , Yes !! Brilliant idea !! But EU ?? No !! They are /it is RUINING Britain with rules and regulations ad nauseam ! In retrospect,we should never have joined ,although it seemed like a good idea at the time .Graviora quaedam sunt remedia periculis !!ViewDate:

Your guide to the world's biggest cruise shipsThese ships look a bit too big for my liking ; I served in an aircraft carrier (HMS Eagle) with a complement of 2,750, and that was bad enough, so include me out when it comes to behemoths like QM2 and Allure Of The Seas ( " Allure Sailor" more like !).No, I prefer the smaller ships with around 500 or so passengers ; inSeptember we cruised aboard MV Discovery , sadly now on her way to broken up, and in October we cruised in MV Funchal to Madeira and Portugal ; OK, so the stabilisers didn't work, and the tidal streamswere too strong for us to make our ETA in the Canaries, but a visit to Portimao and Lagos ( and a 40% refund) help to cheer us up.Our next cruise will be on MV Azores, surely the oldest cruise ship afloat ?? (built as "Stockholm" in 1946 and sank the Andrea Doria ) !!
