Should NHS nurses get more than a 1% pay rise?I'm sorry but I don't think nurses should get more than is being offered; millions of people have worked throughout the pandemic without anything like the same level of adulation that is reserved for NHS staff and many of them have nothing like the benefits and job security that nurses and Doctors get. We were all encouraged to stand and clap for "our NHS heroes" during the first lockdown and now we're being asked to clap by the nures' union to show our solidarity with them; no thanks. Appointments cancelled, GP appointments almost impossible to get and scores of consultancy appointments cancelled, what sort of National Health Service is this?ViewDate:

With the vaccination programme under way, how likely are you to book a holiday this year?We would love to start travelling abroad again but have to bear in mind that other countries may not be up to speed with their COVID management so places won't be as we might wish to find them just yet. Glad that I live somewhere that has miles of golden beaches of its own.ViewDate:

Will you be joining in the Clap for Heroes on Thursday? The NHS is failing in its principal duty- I never thought much of it before COVID and the idea of clapping for an institution that has failed to prevent the deaths of so many people is anathema. Jeremy Hunt keeps popping up purportedly to challenge the way the pandemic is being handled but he was responsible for the NHS for many years prior to Matt Hancock and obviously failed to provide it with what it needed.ViewDate:

What are your views on TV Charity Begging Adverts?I HATE those adverts- I am amazed at the salaries that some of the CEOs get and I am disgusted with the behaviour of some of the staff (reports from abroad). If they're not asking for a text, they're asking for a bequest in your will and on some channels-notably ITV; they are a complete nuisance- what with them, funeral plans and life policies, not forgetting those dubious food delivery adverts- I am almost tempted to sign up for ad-free TV. Worse than all this though is the attempts that media companies are making to outdo each other with shock-tactics- I don't need to know how to use a tampon, find out about plastic knickers for adults (whatever happened to pelvic control) see 20 stone plus women dancing around in their underwear or watch bank adverts that seem more interested in mental health than my financial health. perhaps it works for someone somewhere...ViewDate:

Is it time for a woman to play 007?And another thing- notice that Pierce made his comment after he'd played the part!ViewDate:

Is it time for a woman to play 007?As a woman, I do not agree with the role being given to a woman; Ian Fleming was writing about a MAN called JAMES; how can that character be a woman or anything else in this PC blighted world?ViewDate:

Is the UK Government doing enough to lessen the spread of Covid-19?Ithink the Government is doing what it can under very challenging circumstances; the press are doing their best to cause panic and dissent while pretending not to do so and te idea that the population will "keep calm and carry on" is a joke. The UK has become far too selfie-orientated and unlikely to think of others first.ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?Surely people can still go for walks; I live on the coast and don't see any problem with going for walks on the front-they're deserted anyway!ViewDate:

Will you try Cadbury's new 'diet' chocolate bar?All Cadbury's chocolate has been changed for the worst since it sold out to Mondelez. It tastes plasticky now and I haven't checked but I suspect that the cocoa content has dropped significantly. The Milk Tray selection has been changed with some really weird flavours being added and favourites dropped. Worst of all, the Roses selection is nothing like it used to be and now looks and tastes like children's sweetsViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsI would like to see a petition to change the Parliamentary (and European Parliament) rules so that when an MP decides to change party they should be required to resign and a by-election should be triggered. I am sure that most voters select a candidate based on the manifestos of the party these people say they are standing for, so surely have a right to choose again when the individuals swap hats. Could the fact that MPs and MEPs get a very generous pension settlement as long as they complete the terms of the government session they have been elected to have anything to do with it?ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsI would like to know what others think of the way in which our political leaders behaves at the latest NATO summit this week: I am appalled at the way Trudeau (who has obviously forgotten that he was an item of ridicule himself not so long ago) thought it okay to talk about Donald Trump the way he did and that Macron and Johnson appeared to join in, rather than checking him. As the elected leader of the USA and as such, the most powerful man in the western hemisphere, the man deserves a little respect from those who would be the first to beg for his help should their countries come under attack. None of the NATO members have contributes as much as the USA either financially or in manpower. Ironically, one day after the event, Blackface Trudeau is back in the limelight as leader of one of the countries with the worst records on Climate change controls; Macron is faced with hundreds of thousands of pension protesters on top of the Gilets Jaunes (you can bet his own pension won't be included in the reforms), while our very own Fat Controller Johnson continues with yet another election campaign full of obfuscation, half truths and unrealistic promises that equal those of Jeremy Corbyn. I wish I could emigrate to the US!ViewDate:

Was Prince Harry right to bare his soul on television? He is far too advantaged to be airing his views and making out he and Meghan are like the rest of us.ViewDate:

Should seagulls be culled?Isn't this typical of this Kafkaesque country that scavenging airborne rats are considered more important than the Tax/ council tax payers (and their offspring) that pay the wages of these do-gooders? In my town, the council asks residents to put their refuse out on the pavement in plastic bags (no buns provided) and every collection day is like a feast day for the birds who are excellent at ripping them open and scattering the contents everywhere. I think they should be culled to limit the number of times I have been s..t on and people have lost their sandwichesViewDate:

English GrammarI couldn't agree more: my current pet hate is the use of the word "impact" instead of affect or effect, closely followed by using "so" at the beginning of sentences.ViewDate:

What are your views on TV Charity Begging Adverts?I never give to charities advertising on TV or using chuggers, if asked I always ask what their Chief Executive is earning (usually these posts attract salaries of over £100k). Most national charities are usually funded by central government anyway nowadays to further their own political agendas and not the good causes they once were. I give to local charities where the results of their income is much more evident. -
