Do you believe it's right to ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars? The best environmental car I've ever seen is Fred's in the Flintstones.ViewDate:

Do you pay 5p for a plastic bag or take your own? There are about 30 countries around the world who have banned plastic bags or charged for them for many years. The UK is way behind on such issues.ViewDate:

Is marriage outdated?A will is much more important than that 'piece of paper'.ViewDate:

Do you think St George’s Day and St David’s should be made national holidays?St George goes way back. He is of Greek origin apparently and has been adopted by many countries. He was catholic as was England up until the time of Henry VIII. There is still a st Georges Feast Day around the world in the catholic church on 23 April. His rise to fame came because of refusing to denounce his catholic christian faith whilst a Praetorian Guard to the Roman emperor and was consequently sentenced to death. So as England is not constitutionally Catholic, and St George was not an Englishman, or even visited here probably, then I don't feel inclined to adopt him. However, there is a strong case for a unifying emblem and a holiday to go with it, but WHO.?ViewDate:

Would you consider retiring abroad? What a lovely idea Helly! It was and probably still is something that could be done. I understand pensioners leave these shores mainly to Spain for three months during winter. The reason is financial. Under current pension rules if you are out of the country for more than this then your pension will be stopped! This is because the state pension is in fact a state benefit. There are discussions taking place in government to reduce this to one month. Stand by for uproar when and if this happens! Then of course there is health to consider, what if you fell ill abroad? So many things really. But the idea is a dream and we should all follow our dreams if possible. I think it's easier for a man than a woman.ViewDate:

Should all pensioners over 75 be entitled to a free TV licence?I don't think we actually pay for BBC programmes, we are paying for a licence for reception equipment, in the same way we pay for car tax licence. There is no link between road maintenance/new roads and the car tax we pay. It's just another way for the government to collect tax.ViewDate:

Should all pensioners over 75 be entitled to a free TV licence? Its not free for a start. It's paid for out of taxes at the moment, which many of us pay. However, I think it should be selective when the BBC takes it over in 2020. But how would they know how to deal with it. Why should they. Even the government could not work out who should get it, or if they do it must be an admin nightmare, which I suspect is where the crux of the matter lies. Maybe the government is trying to force the BBC into reining in it's extravagances and it's unseemly wages. In the end, the small weekly sum of about £3 for a licence to watch tv and listen to radio 24/7 7 days a week is terrific value. Even so I won't be paying my fee all the time such offensive wage increases are dished out.ViewDate:
