Switching to low carbon heat pumps: Key questions answeredFact is, the majority of people (at least in the UK) will not be able to afford to change to a heat pump. They do not heat your house to the same temperature as a gas boiler, especially in the depths of Winter. The £5000 grant is nowhere near enough to cover the cost of changing over. It will probably be at least 3 times that because most UK houses don't have sufficient insulation to keep the heat inside. You won't just be able to change the boiler for a heat pump & do nothing else. The technology is always improving but at the moment it isn't sufficient to make the changeover cost effective or even heat effective! We may well get there eventually but fixing a date of 2030 is wrong in my opinion. What happens when that date comes? Will they turn off the gas supply & let everyone who hasn't been able to get a heat pump freeze to death? Not to mention all the gas cookers in the country, No one seems to mention how those who have gas cookers & hobs will all cook our food in 2030?ViewDate:

Is Labour's new WASPI promise credible?Apparently the raising of the women's retirement age came from an EU ruling. So if Labour win (haha!) we will be staying in the EU & it is probably against their rules to give anything back to us on the pensions! In fact half of what they're promising they won't be able to do either.ViewDate:

Should over 70s be banned from voting on the country's future?Don't forget the film 'Logan's Run' either. They had compulsory euthanasia at 30!ViewDate:

Should over 70s be banned from voting on the country's future?I agree with your sentiment but correct you on the facts. It wasn't Margaret Thatcher who took us into the EU. Ted Heath joined us up to the EEC or Common Market as it was known then, in 1973 without any vote. The referendum in 1975 was asking if we wished to remain in it, with Harold Wilson being PM at the time. So the Conservatives & Labour were both supporting membership to the 'club' in the 1970's. I was just too young to vote at that time but remember both my parents & grandparents voting to leave. The result was about 67% remain. In fact over her time as PM, Margaret Thatcher became increasingly Eurosceptic & that was one of the reasons she was pressured to resign in 1990. Personally, I really hope we will still manage to leave on 31st October or failing that, by the 31st January. Can't come soon enough for me!ViewDate:

Who will you be voting for in the European Elections? They said they were checked last week by the Electoral Commission & were passed but they didn't give them the result in writing. A bit suspicious that they are now 'investigating' again on the say-so of someone who is obviously trying to stop the Brexit Party from winning. After all the fuss made after the 2016 win, do they really think Nigel Farage would risk any possibility of illegal fundings scuppering this EU election victory?ViewDate:

Who will you be voting for in the European Elections? The Green party want to remain in the EU! Brexit party is the only vote my family will be placing tomorrow, which includes 2 young voters, so they're not all brainwashed, thankfully!ViewDate:

3 common smear test myths dispelledI've had many smears over the years, with no problem at all. Not so last year. Visited GP on 3 occasions who failed to obtain the sample due to the pain I experienced. Eventually I had to attend a specialist gynecology center, who did manage to complete the test but it was extremely painful for me. I don't know why it should have been different from all the other times I've been & no one could offer an explanation. Thankfully the result was good but not really looking forward to attending my next one in 3 years time!ViewDate:

Does the future look brighter? Why not let 6 year olds vote while you're at it, like the twit professor of Cambridge who suggested it the other day? After all it's their future too! I'm sorry but excluding older voters is just ludicrous . You may as well say their lives & experience are worth nothing.ViewDate:

How confident do you feel that the Government can deliver Brexit to the benefit of the country? You're asking the wrong question - it should be WILL the government deliver Brexit to the benefit of the country. I have no doubt it CAN be done but with a remainer in charge it's just not happening!ViewDate:

Would you be prepared to pay more tax to fund the NHS?I am not a doctor, so no I haven't. Perhaps the money saved by not giving out these prescriptions could be used for security officers instead!ViewDate:

Would you be prepared to pay more tax to fund the NHS?Running in it's present form, I would not be willing to pay more for the NHS. It needs a MAJOR overhaul on spending. We all know drugs cost lots of money but as they've recently pointed out, things such as paracetamol on prescription cost £8.80, but buying a packet in the supermarket is less than 20p. Also, need to stop the stupid practice of patients DEMANDING antibiotics when they're not needed & are actually ineffectual. Why can't the doctor just say no you can't have it? There's no denying we need more GP's when the average waiting time for an appointment is 3 weeks. You could either be dead or cured within that time & it's no wonder many go to A&E which only means several hours waiting rather than 3 weeks. The NHS does need more money to cope with the influx of population, new & expensive drugs & procedures & more staff to deal with it all but without dealing with the wastage that goes on already, it's like throwing good money after bad.ViewDate:

What are your views on hospital car park charging? If the charges were reasonable it wouldn't be so bad but £3 for the first hour!! (Royal Surrey hospital) It's outrageous exploitation just because you need to visit the hospital so really it's a captive market unless you can manage to park elsewhere & walk a long way back. When you're sick this isn't an option but possible if you're only visiting someone but still not ideal. Also to have to pay when you are over 4 hours in A&E with no idea how much long you'll be there, so you keep topping up the fee, it's just ridiculous. A fairer system needs to be implemented, or scrap the fees altogether to bring us in line with Scotland & Wales. (why they should be exempt is a real mystery) I could go on but fear I may have to visit the hospital with hight blood pressure if I do!!
