Is it wrong to spend your kids’ inheritance? From birth we did everything we could for our son including doing without so he could go to private school which ave him a wonderful start. He then joined the Navy and we again supported him through his 5 years training and at the same time bought his first car and his first little boat. If all parents do there best while there children are growing up it is then up to the children to work hard for their future. This doesn't mean I wouldn't like to leave some money (for instance the house which he could sell) for him but I don't feel guilty enjoying myself with the little I have. With virtually no interest pensions and savings don't go far.ViewDate:

Making the most of the NHS websiteEveryday in the news we hear about how the hospitals and ambulances are not reaching targets but never do they comment on the hurdles they have to jump. Last week I spent 5 hours in A & E with my husband and the only way it could have been improved was more staff. In the Redcar and district area they designate 2 ambulances for emergencies up until midnight and 1 afterwas which is ridiculous. As with other areas it could be 1 or 10 needed guess work is no use. To take 4 hours before somebody is in serious pain is seen by a doctor can only be improved by more doctors which I think is common sense. The NHS is spending £ thousands on Manager and NHS England who do things like count how many patients get treated on time or whether Doctors, police and social workers are acting correctly when all the money spent on the, could be spent on front line staff who are badly needed. GPS need to provide a call out system again so stupid injuries or worries do not end up in A & E. When we were in A & E there was my husband and 1 other lady of 93 waiting nit as is said blocking access to the doctors the blockers were much younger and in particular drunks and foreign families where it seems the whole family needs to be there rather than one or two carers or parents. It was absolute pandemonium and the staff were helpless to improve the situation. After 6 1/2 years we are at last getting somewhere after years of more and more gall stones being removed after the gall bladder and nothing else looked at. We are at our wits end but still see what the NHS are battling without the finds to do do.ViewDate:

Is taxation the answer or is awareness going to reduce our sugar consumption?I don't think there is anything like enough awareness of the amount of sugar in all foods not just the sweet drinks. Taxation will make very little difference as children often buy their own drinks and they will just pay the extra and do without other things if they don't have enough and parents do a weekly shop and will still buy the usual amount of drinks possibly making a show of changing at first but then slipping back into the same old habits as time is always short.ViewDate:

Should the House of Lords be reformed?I believe we need an upper house but I don't think attending the Lords should go one over 75 or indeed if they have any permanent debilitating illness. It should've a lifetime only position not a pensionable one as it is not a full time position. Payment should also only ever be for attendance. If the rules were much stricter we would only get people who are really interested and bothered about this country. Something stricter rules should also be started in the commons.ViewDate:

Would you welcome your GP surgery being opened 7 days a week?I don't necessarily want the Doctors open 7 days per week but it would be great if they worked a rota so that one Doctor from the practice or a couple of practices is available if anybody has an emergency as it used to be. This would take a lot of the pressure off the A & E departments in the hospitals and stop parents worrying so much about children. I have just rung for an appointment and to see one of the 2 main Doctors I have to wait 3 or 4 weeks respectfully and I object to this very much as I only ring if I need to see a doctor and I don't mean in 3 weeks time. It's no wonder people miss appointments as people must make them just in case.ViewDate:

Is Living Abroad A Distant Dream? What I didn't say in my comments is that I have seen both my parents through their lives and my husband has done the same for his and we have not hand any for 15 + years now so we would not be leaving any parents. If we could have gone abroad I would have preferred Italy mostly for the people as I have always loved most of the country.ViewDate:

Is Living Abroad A Distant Dream?I only have the one son who is really my life and I would miss him terribly but I know he could afford to visit regularly but I have always had poor health so I couldn't get private health insurance at all and this prevents me from even discussing it with my hisband and him but my best friend from here has moved to Spain today and intends staying except for visits to see the family and we shall certainly be visiting. I don't blame anyone for moving to a warmer climate as the ills most of us have here with arthritis etc would be so much better In a dryer climate.ViewDate:

Do your grown-up Children owe you money?I was brought up to never borrow or loan money and to always save and buy what I wanted and never use credit other than a mortgage for our home. I stuck to that advice although sometimes difficult as my husband had not been brought up the same way. We brought up our son the same way and luckily he has carried on that way. We paid for his education which gave him an excellent start and he then joined the Navy and has never looked back even though he left the Navy at 24 as he had been sent on subs and hated it. He now has a first class honours degree and is a senior director of a very large international company. Teach your children to save from day one, don't make things too easy.ViewDate:

Tips to help your dog behave while entertainingI would like to make a point to other silver surfers - we had a Jack Russell until he was 18 when he died some years ago but we got him at 2 years old. On New Years Eve we bought a patterjack puppy (half Jack Russell and half Patterdale terrier) at 10 weeks old. He has had all his injections etc and is very well looked after but we really did not have an idea what we were taking on. Of course like any puppy he is mischievous and if it will fit on his mouth he will eat it - today it we as a new pair of wellies. My husband is nearly 71 and me nearly 68 and neither of us could be called fit although we do our best but I had been looking for a dog around 2 years old. If anybody else is thinking along these lines stick to the 2 year old as he has enough energy in a day to test us in a month. Of course he only had to look at you with a certain look in his eyes and your heart melts but it is really hard to cope. If we manage to get him trained in any way I think my soon will take him as he has lots of land but he is at work so it wouldn't be fair to either of them. We do take him to puppy school but I think he thinks it is a choir as he never shuts up as he loves people and other dogs and didn't fight just licks to death. Everybody know his name as it is so often on the lips of the instructor telling him to behave or be quiet.ViewDate:

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked or reinstated?I would like to know what really happened bit have to admit to not liking him as for me it was a great programme when it was for the general public ie testing new real cars all dream and nightmare cars which mean nothing to the ordinary person. If what is being said did happen then he cannot be above the law but if it is exaggerated the he is entitled to his say as is everyone. Many people love the show so it must be seen to be fair to all.ViewDate:

Staying safe on the InternetHow many people are aware that because of past mistakes by the police and other public services they are now deliberately destroying people's lives by making allegations with absolutely no definitive evidence other than one email from years ago. Going through this is a living hell and if it goes on suicide rates will increase dramatically for no reason but because people have nowhere to turn but family many of who cannot take the strain and stress. I will never again say there is no smoke without fire as I now know there is as it is quite simply made up to fit what is wanted and show results which are completely incorrect. If you read this please remember this if somebody asks you for help - they could be desperate so hear them out without judgement.ViewDate:

Should pension tax relief be cut to fund reduced university fees?Pensioners now have lived through paying 18% interest rates and many other desperate times but now when they need it interest on their savings is almost non existant. They have lived through the aftermath of WWII an through all the instability since then and genuinely paid their way. Younger people now should look back on their childhood and remember who paid for everything they have now. Grandchildren laugh and simply don't believe how people had to live but we overcame that to build a better future for everybody not just ourselves. As I never went hungry, never cold or uneducated I consider I lived a privileged childhood but I went to school with a majority less fortunate. It is time people talked about our life instead of my life and were more understanding of others as greed is now playing a very big part in this country.ViewDate:

Did you go to your closest secondary school?I went to my nearest school which was a very good school and I walked there even though I was not a healthy child. Fresh air helps not hinders growth and it is also great exercise even if like me you live in an industrial area.ViewDate:

Should households pay a universal flat-rate fee regardless of whether they own a TV?As most people who don't have TVs watch other people's other than the people who are against the idea of television. If it was done this way surely admin costs could be cut which are considerable.ViewDate:

Save The Best For LaterFrom day one children should always be taught to save and they can never be too young to learn that everything has to be paid for. The children who cannot grasp maths would gain plenty from being taught how to budget in small ways so that when they are older they know they cannot just spend all money they get. In years gone by ordinary people saved money in separate tins for different bills like rent, coal, electric etc and what was left over was for food apart from 1p insurances just in case! Oh that people even thought that like now instead of looking for the cheapest rates on loans and credit cards when they could save for luxuries and pay cash which would also save a lot of money.ViewDate:

Making the most of the NHS websiteHi, is there a place where we can start a discussion and in the year of a very important election do people not wish to discuss politics. I wished to discuss the recent development of Greater Manchester managing there own NHS! I feel if an amount of money can be settled for one area it can be settled for the whole country so everybody receives a fair bite of the cherry. This is yet another change in the NHS which is no longer National.ViewDate:

Should Winter Fuel Allowance only be given to those pensioners who need it?If there is to be a split then I would think this is the bests way of doing it or any money saved would be spent on admin and if people are paying top rate tax they are certainly not hard up.ViewDate:

Should Winter Fuel Allowance only be given to those pensioners who need it?All our lives we have worked hard and paid into the NI so why should some people who have not saved or made provision for retirement be the only ones to receive this money. If I was confident that money not awarded as heating assistance but was held towards the NHS or other such very needy service to all in may feel differently but it would just disappear into some other hole. I know many did not earn enough to save and there will eventually be many more but the majority just spent all they earned.ViewDate:

Is it important to know how to use grammar correctly? Our English Language is a beautiful language and is already being ruined by those using shortened forms on the new technology. Just as well as speaking good English it is important that everyone knows how to use it correctly which is spoiled with bad grammar. The mobile phone is probably the biggest culprit of how not to use English and our young people are falling further and further behind in their ENGLISH examinations but can you be surprised.ViewDate:

Should drug possession be considered a crime?I think some prisons should have provision to provide the means to wean prisoners off drugs rather than them escape punishment for bad crimes with such a week excuse. Many people are prescription drug addicts but it doesn't mean they should be allowed to do what they want. -
