Online Food Shopping Home Deliveries for people on DHSC register for High Risk people.I am sorry you are having such a problem getting slots for home delivery of food. Despite what the supermarkets say it is not very easy as I know. They all work slightly differently it would seem I have been lucky getting at least one slot a week, not on a specific day or time or with a particular supermarket, but possibly because I have shopped on line for a couple years before all this virus lockdown happened. Neither my husband, who does have quite serious health problems, are on that DHCS list and when I tried to apply they said he didn't qualify, which is just as well I have managed. Sainsburys has been the shop I have managed to get a slot from the most. I had an email from them before the government list to say I was classed as vulnerable and could have one slot a week, not when, just if I found one. I presume it was because I have their credit card and from this they would see my age. Initially they would send an email telling me when there would be some slots available, and I would check and book one. The day and time was variable. Then they stopped sending me an email so now I check their site each day from Sunday onwards and so far I have managed to get s slot at some time in the week. Tesco doesn't appear to do something similar, not quite sure how or if they decide who is vulnerable. It was over a fortnight before I got another slot, I just checked once a day and all of a sudden there were some slots. Very much more expensive than Sainsbury. Asda initially were easy to get a slot but their choice was much less, and their site not so easy to manage. The one delivery I got was poor and the driver not helpful or friendly Iceland only show slots for a week and so say will only take people over pension age. How they know I don't know. I have shopped with Iceland in store for years and after a couple of weeks suddenly got a slot for home delivery. The cheapest of them all. Not got another one. It is really the luck of the draw. Some people stay up till midnight hoping to get a slot but that doesn't always work. I have never done that. I just keep trying on a daily basis at any time with any of them until I get a slot. Not easy. I think feeding those who cannot use on line shopping must be extremely difficult. Is your council helping I wonder. Our council has sent cards to those who it thinks are vulnerable with phone numbers of shops, and people who can help. We have a good covid-19 volunteer group who will shop and deliver. I am afraid this government is doing very little, or getting bad advice from its civil servant advisors. Sorry this has gone on so long but h0pe it helps or may help others. Good luckViewDate:

Should women have time off work for menopausal symptoms?Perhaps I am lucky but I had no real female problems at puberty or with the menopause. I did have the occasional hot flush and sometimes was very hot in bed at night but nothing I couldn't cope with. How much is real and how much is in the mind I don't know. All I know is I was not going to let the menopause upset my life. I did not go on HRT or anything else, apart from Vitamin B6 I think for a while.ViewDate:

How many portions of fruit and veg do you eat each day?I didn't mean I spend £3 on average on vegetables and fruit only, I include meat and anything else I decide to eat. I shop with great care as money is limited as it is for most people. I don't mock vegans, but couldn't become one for three reasons, 1. I think human beings are omnivores and therefore eat meat as well as vegetables and fruit etc. 2. A lot of what vegans seem to eat does not agree with me. I won't go into detail, but I do have to be careful as to what fruit and some vegetables I eat. Cannot, indeed should not, have soya in any form, and have to be careful about wheat etc. 3. If nobody ate meat, what would happen to all the animals? They could not just be kept for nothing or allowed to roam free as many would die. Presumably it would be just a few kept in zoos. Incidentally, I do not agree with factory farming, and think animals should be looked after in the most humane way possible. I think plants should to, as it happens and hate all the poisons that are sprayed on most. vegetables and fruit. Do not believe in GM food either. Organic is the way.ViewDate:

How many portions of fruit and veg do you eat each day?I eat both meat and vegetables, but very little fruit as I am allergic to quite a few types of fruit. However I could not afford to spend as much as £5 a day. Don't think I spend more than £3 on average. While i do quite like avocado I would hardly call that a basic fruit, very much more a luxury.ViewDate:

Censorship - the creeping assassin of free speech.Jeanmark I was responding to celtwitch and the comment that when freedom of speech was stifled then the next would be freedom of thought which I think is well on the way to being stopped. So maybe you right it should be freedom from thought, just be morons as many people seem to have become already.ViewDate:

Censorship - the creeping assassin of free speech.I think freedom of thought is virtually here already. We are taught what is now correct to say, and therefore think, and what isn't so we shouldn't think about it. Watched the Bake Off programme the other night, and yes there were a couple of double innuendos but nothing really too awful when you think of what once was allowed to be said in a comedy programme, and I do presume although the baking part of this programme is serious, there is no reason why there shouldn't be a bit of comedy. The next day there was an article in the paper about people complaining about what had been said by the presenters including Mary Berry as if they had committed a cardinal sin. Maybe I am naive, but I didn't know what some of the words that upset some people even meant. Not sure whether Mary Berry knew about sticky grass. I certainly didn't although having given it some thought have an idea. My OH had not heard of that as being upsetting to some people.ViewDate:

Is political correctness in our modern society, being taken too far or have we got the balance right? What are your views?Lionel the younger generations have been being manipulated in several ways, not just political correctness, and free speech. Health and safety also has a lot to answer for. Yes I know there is a need for some H&S but it has got ridiculous these days. From a very early age they are taught that all sorts of things are scary and should be avoided. These are normal things in life which we all used to learn about when we played games and so on. My granddaughter was not allowed to play chasing games at school in case someone fell over! All men are probably paedophiles, and even women probably want to take you away to goodness knows where. I think it is all designed to create a society most of whom will not question anything and do as they are told by those in charge. As an aside, well done to our Olympians who have had to guts and determination to compete and win medals. We want more people like this in all areas of life.ViewDate:

The world is now a very dangerous placeHow this terrible mess can be sorted without bloodshed I do not know. As has been said already, we are unable to really express our worries and fears as it is not politically correct to do so. We are called racist, islamaphobists and so on. Who would fight with us to regain our country I do not know. Young people have been brought up to be scared of almost everything, and not to take risks, through over zealous health and safety. Very few of them would be brave enough to fight. I fear that Europe as we know it, is doomed and eventually will become a muslim caliphate in the fullness of time. Some years ago I read a book written by the Mayans many many years ago describing the future. Scholars who have read and understand what the Mayans have written about life and how their calendar worked, have said that it foretold that the "world as we know it" would start to finish from 2015. It would certainly look as though they were right. Quite what a world we will get they didn't say, but it certainly wasn't going to be pleasant.ViewDate:

Immigration - what are your views? How I agree with you both. We should stop this madness letting all and sundry come into both this country and as Europe as a whole. I hate to think what the future will hold for my grandchildren and great grandchildren etc. Europe will be changed out of all recognition as will Great Britain. Already some parts of this country are nothing like it was, and certainly not like England. I feel I am so lucky as I live in a part of England that is still more or less as it always has been. No mosques for a start. We do have some Eastern Europeans but they do not seem to want to change our country completely. The courts should stop all sharia courts completely for a start. Seeing what is happening in various European countries it is really worrying, and it would seem it is politically incorrect, and racist to criticise these immigrants and the awful things they are doing. It is being suggested in certain quarters it is Europe's fault because of our way of life and we should change to the way the immigrants live. No way, we have fought for our freedoms and should not give them up for a handful (well getting rather more than a handful) of people who want a completely different way of life. I do have friends who came here from other parts of the world as migrants and they are also horrified by what is happening now.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen?Well I hope it is a long time before William becomes King, as at present he is in no way mature enough. He wants to live as middle class with the niceties in life that a member of the royal family has. He does very little work for the Queen, (I know he has a part time job as a pilot for an air ambulance, but I would have thought an ordinary person would have needed the job more than William). It would appear that Carol Middleton has more control over his life than his father or grandmother. DIana unfortunately was her own worst enemy. She courted the press and then complained when they turned up to where she was. Unfortunately she was also very immature when she married Charles, plus a sick woman with mental problems. She just wanted to be the centre of attraction wherever she went and broke up at least two, if not more, marriages, after she left Charles.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen? When Charles and Camilla were friends all those years ago, they were both single. It was the Duke of Edinburgh who wanted Charles to make up his mind on who to marry and so Charles went abroad for about a year to think about it. In those days, it was difficult for Charles to choose someone who would some day be queen. They had to be from the "right family" preferably with royal connections, and also they were supposed to be a virgin. During the time Charles was "away thinking" Camilla got fed up with being pushed aside and so got married The Duke of Edinburgh, and presumably the Queen also, were somewhat fed up at Charles not choosing a bride so Diana Spencer was brought into the scene. Charles had gone out with her older sister some years before. She was supposedly of the right type of family and presumably a virgin although of course very much younger than Charles with quite a different life style. She felt she was a fairy tale princess. So you see in those early years of Charles and Camilla's relationship they were both single. Put the blame on the Duke of Edinburgh if you wish as to why they did not marry at that time. It would have saved a lot of heart ache and blame that happened because Charles had (and I think it was more or less had) to marry Diana to produce an heir to the throne before he got too old.ViewDate:

Is political correctness in our modern society, being taken too far or have we got the balance right? What are your views? How much I agree with you Mal. We are gradually being controlled more and more of our rights eroded. The latest thing I read was about in large companies where there are people of different religions etc that any food heated by members of staff for their lunch or whatever should not be anything that may upset someone else, no sausage rolls for instance in case it upsets a muslim or someone who wants their meat to be halal. This is not law as such yet, but a suggestion by a group that can influence government policy. The laugh is when we were on holiday in Israel,(another non pork eating people) there were butchers shops selling pork, bacon etc etc all in the open for anyone who wanted to buy it.ViewDate:

What's your favourite ship and why?We have been on all of Fred Olsen ships and two of Thomson, both much the same in size and offering much the same by way of entertainment, trips out and so on. We prefer FO in general especially Black Watch although we also like the Balmoral. Boudicca is the one we like the least, for no real reason, just the feel of the ship. Braemar was the ship we sailed on for our first cruise, and she was quite small then, but she has since been extended and although we still like her, we think she was nicer when smaller. We like FO and Thomson as the ships are not too big, (nor too small) and the crew are all very friendly. We can sail from the UK on FO cruises which suits us rather than flying to get a ship. They may not have all the latest gadgets, nor do they have climbing walls, skating rinks etc, but they also rarely have children on board. We can easily get round the ship to where we want to go, and the people who are mainly British, are our sort of peopleViewDate:

Reducing salt intake in your dietWe all need some salt in our diet to stay healthy, although just how much I really don't know. I once met a man whose wife had cut out salt entirely from here diet and became very ill, unable to do most things, and her doctor said she must include some salt everyday. Again just how much I don't know. The man I met was an American and we were in France! Just someone I met at a meal in a hotel.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen?William is nowhere near ready to be king. He is still under the control of his wife's mother. Hasn't learnt to stand on his own two feet. Wants some of the royal trappings, but not yet prepared to take on all the responsibility of being a member of the royal family.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen? So we would have had some other children if Charles had married Camilla to carry on the royal line and eventually become monarch. William and Harry are decent young men, especially seeing their mother had mental problems, but that doesn't mean any other children that Charles would have had married to Camilla would not also have been decent people. William and Harry are not gods or better than anyone else.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen?See no problem. Charles should have been allowed to marry Camilla all those years ago and then the problems we had would probably not happened. She has never said a word out of place during the whole Charles/Diana problems. In fact she has never said a word at all about it. He and she seem happy, she does a lot of work for the Queen.ViewDate:
