Where we all live!!!!I live in Cornwall, and have done for more than half my life. Love it, it is now in my blood. I love the beaches in winter, the woods all the year round. We live in a lovely village with a close community. We, as a county have wonderful eateries, posh and not so posh all offering wonderful food. My husband and I were very lucky with employment and had good jobs all our working lives here in this county. We overlook fields of sheep and cattle and a river. We have good neighbours and many friends. We count our blessings.ViewDate:

Alcohol consumption concernHaving worked as a doctor and having seen what alcohol can do to health, I find that comment extremely unhelpful. However thank you for voicing it, you have a right to your opinion.ViewDate:

Underactive thyroidMy husband was diagnosed with this many years ago and was put on Levothyroxine. See your GP and get blood tests performed. My husband does suffer with cramp and depression, but apart from that he is fitViewDate:

English GrammarI think perhaps if more people were "picky" about grammar it might improve again, while we older folk are still around to keep it going. I am truly appalled at some grammar I hear, even on the BBC! On our local radio several broadcasters add a "k" in something, nothing etc.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen? No, No, No, NO, NEVER! It is terrible that she had an affair with Charles whilst he was married to Diana. Who knows, if that had not happened, we might still have Diana with us and she would be queen in due course. I think William and Katherine would make better royal leaders when the time comes, and pass over Charles.ViewDate:

Car Parking at HospitalsI so agree. Almost 4 years ago to the day my husband broke his leg and had to be admitted to hospital/ I drove him to a fracture clinic, from which he was immediately booked in as an inpatient. As one does, this process took many hours. When I eventually returned to our car, I was met with a ticket bill of £11.50! As we are both senior citizens, I thought this heartless and daylight robbery. The hospital Trust had sold their car park to get in some badly needed money, and the car parking Q-Parks are making a fortune out of peoples misfortune and misery. Disgusting! :((ViewDate:

Are there any members from Ireland?I was born in the UK 'cos Mum was there at the time!! I spent my formative years on the south side of Dublin and still have relatives on the north side and Bray. I also have cousins all over Eire, but as with so many cousins have either never met them or only spoken on the phone or through e-mailing. I left Eire as a youngster but return every so often for a catch up. I would love to return but it is now too expensive. I do live in a wonderful part of the world, the west country in the UK. I wish you a very Happy New Year.ViewDate:

Fifty shades of greyOh how I wish I could agree with you all who are happy to embrace the grey age. I actually found my first grey hair at the age of 13! However, I only needed to start colouring my hair in my 50's. Over the last two years, my hairdresser went away for six months and I let my hair colour grow out for a year. I wanted to see if I could feel at ease with a full head of grey hair. I hated it. I now have low and high lights in my hair to lessen the times I have to visit the salon, but I hate that too and would prefer to return to a full head colour. I find it extremely aging to be grey. I have naturally curly/frizzy hair and so cannot have an amazing stylish geometric cut. I am at my wits end to know what to do. I am now in my late 60's and not growing old gracefully!!!ViewDate:

Tips required for grass weed and feed?Hi there In the past we have used weed and feed twice a year; once in spring (from April) and again later in the summer (June/July). After cutting the lawn, once a month we have used Aftercut. All this kept our last lawn very healthy. We had no children or dogs to run around on it. It was green, healthy and weed free. The lawn was also spiked and scarified once a year. We have since moved and we had a new lawn turf laid last autumn, therefore I have used nothing on the grass as it was too young. We shall start the regime again next year. I hope this helps. Good luck.ViewDate:

Are there any members from Ireland? My grandmother used to spend many happy holidays in Donegal with her youngest daughter many moons ago. I live in the west country, but have lived in other parts of the UK, Nottingham, Manchester, London etc. I have lived and worked in the west country for over 37 years and love it where I am. I would not live anywhere else now. I have friends here but no family. I have a half aunt in Dublin and many cousins, also in Dublin, but also in Galway.ViewDate:

My perfect retirement !I was lucky, I had the opportunity to retire at the original age of 60, although I worked on for another nine months, in the NHS. I feel that the idea of making men and women retire later and later is dreadful. (A) The government seem to want to work people into the ground and possibly hope that many people will not live long enough to receive their state pension. I know many people who never reached their pensionable age anyway. (B) The young people cannot get jobs because the older people are still being employed, and employers may have no scope to employ more than so many people at any one time. The whole structure has been unbalanced. Everyone should have the ability to retire at 60 to enjoy some quality retirement years.ViewDate:

Should women over 50 have NHS funded fertility treatment?Goodness, if I had had a child at 50, I would now have a teenager leaving school. No thanks, not for me. On a more general note; surely the NHS has enough to pay out, without giving IVF treatment to women who would not naturally be having babies at that age. It would not be fair on the child, who might find themselves orphaned while still at a vulnerable age when they would still need parental care and guidance.ViewDate:

Should Winter Fuel Allowance only be given to those pensioners who need it?If some people wish to give up their winter fuel allowance it should be up to them. However, for the rest of us, I think we should be given this allowance, many of us are living on our pensions and just rubbing along. Keeping warm is not a luxury but a necessity, to keep healthy.
