Is obesity a lifestyle choice or a disease?Obesity is a lifestyle that has been created by big business. They have produced so much processed food full of sugar that is very additive. The fast food industry has grown as fast as our waist lines. In the 1940's and 50's there were no fat people, look at old documentary films or Pathe news and you will see what I mean. I grew up on ration books and we grew a lot of vegetables and salad, we had fruit a little meat and cheese. We were fit and strong because we walked or had a bike to get to school or work. Its not easy to solve now because of all the changes in the way we live. For what its worth I say, eat fresh home cooked food, eat the rainbow of colour with fruit and veg. Move a lot more, walk, swim, ride a bike. Get out in the garden or join an allotment and grow food, its great exercise as well with the extra benefit of making real friends.Stuart1946 commented on:
Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?A small statue made of scrap metal taken from the coal mines that she closed would be ok. The cost of £300,000 is madness about £300 is better. Use the £300,000 for caring homes for the old who block hospital beds and have nowhere to go.Stuart1946 commented on:
Should there be a specified age to retake your practical driving test?your driving ability should be based on your health, so everyone should have a medical when they reach 65. Also if a driver is stopped for careless driving " without due care and attention " at any age should have to pass there test again. I passed an advanced driving test when I was 65 to prove to myself that I could still drive safely. Any one stopped with drugs or drink should have a life ban.
