Should classrooms be mobile phone free zones?I see one or two comments regarding dyslexic pupils etc and I think it’s worth mentioning that a lot of schools nowadays use tablets in lessons which would cover this. Pupils have their own tablet issued which would make the use of a phone unnecessary in class.ViewDate:

Should classrooms be mobile phone free zones?I think most parents would regard their child having a phone as a security device but for use outside school. I agree they have no place in the classroom (same for teachers) and it would be easy for the school to have some kind of blocking device to prevent their use within the building. Regarding their use for threatening, bullying behaviour that is for the school to be more aware of and, in my opinion, many have failed miserably over the years to spot even the most obvious unpleasant behaviour. This is an area where they need to try harder…ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Autumn 2020I have just read The Thursday Murder Club in one sitting, I literally couldn’t put it down! I’m a regular reader of mysteries so I’d like to think I’m “clued up” and I did have an inkling of one aspect of the mystery almost immediately. However I found the possible suspects all quite feasible and it was only towards the end that I realised who but still not why. The clues are all there if only one can see them and it is a very well plotted story. I found the characters extremely well written and defined and I could see them in my mind fleshed out and believable. There is a good mix of gentle humour and also the sadness which is inevitable in the “twilight years”. I found myself wanting to move to Cooper’s Chase immediately! I wholeheartedly recommend this book, for a first novel it is excellent and I can’t wait for the next!ViewDate:

Dating stories from over 50sAlthough I believe dating websites to be a valuable means of meeting people, in fact my daughter met her husband this way, it doesn’t work for everyone. My experience is that meeting people face to face is far more significant. I have found that it is helpful to be as honest as possible in your profile and give as much information as necessary and this has worked against me. I purposely stated that I have tattoos because I know some people don’t like them and I didn’t want an embarrassing encounter but I wasn’t prepared for how many men don’t like them. My profile has been viewed many times but no one has even sent me a message and when I look at their summary of what they are looking for I see that, to a man, they have all stated that piercing and tattoos are a turn off. I’m 66 and although I didn’t get my first until I was in my late forties I knew people with them before this and I cannot believe that men the same age as me are so anti. Of course it may be that they just don’t like the look of me but as they have viewed my profile I have to consider that it’s my mention of inking that puts them off. Therefore I have to conclude that meeting someone in a club or group could be more helpful for me because a chap may well decide that he likes me in spite of my, in my opinion, tasteful decoration!ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hello I’m new to this and also new to a single life. I’m not sure where to go or how to go from here so hearing other experiences might be useful. After 34 years of marriage my husband decided to tell me he no longer loved me and hadn’t for sometime. He wanted us to separate and thought I would welcome this too. He was wrong there but, to keep the story short, there were issues with us both which could, I feel have been addressed. I for my part had devoted my time to our two daughters and made up for him, because of work, not always being around and was looking forward to a time when he would retire and we would be able to spend more time together. However he had met someone through his activities and suddenly saw a future with her instead. Obviously there is a lot more to this but basically I am now alone and, as well as my past married life being made less than a happy memory, I feel that the future I saw for us has also been snatched away. My daughters are busy with work, their own relationships and their children. I see them often and love seeing my grandsons but they do have their own lives. We did have a lovely holiday together last year but I can’t expect them to always want to take me. I acquired a little dog for company and to give me a reason to get up in the morning which is great because I have to go out with her even when I don’t really feel like it! My problem is that I want to be able to do the things I had expected to do in retirement like days out, weekends away and holidays. I want to take the dog for walks and pub lunches etc, not much fun alone. I no longer drive and that is an issue, and I won’t again so it is no use suggesting, as a kind person did recently, that I try again. Also, if I’m honest I would like some kind of relationship, not perhaps a mad passion but loving and warm. Someone to hold and be held by, and to go places with. My question is, am I wrong to want this? How do I go about it without looking as though I just want a driver to take me out? I’m 65 and I feel robbed of the autumn of my life that I expected. Am I being unrealistic and do I have to accept another ten or years of loneliness?ViewDate:

The best foundations for mature skinI heartily recommend IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC+ Cream. It comes in a variety of shades, contains SPF and I find it works perfectly. It covers well and can be built up in certain areas for extra coverage. It can be used instead of moisturiser although I choose to apply over my usual moisturiser. Since I have been using this product, about a year now, I have noticed an improvement in my complexion also. I began using like a tinted moisturiser on “at home days” and my usual foundation when going out but found that gradually I reached for this one more often and I now use it all the time and have ditched my foundation. It was developed with plastic surgeons and is 100% cruelty free also. I urge you to try it. -
