Loss of a Loved OneIt’s great that you did get some compassionate folk along the way. So many of my colleagues refused to do bereavement meetings in the majority of the bank branches i worked in for 38 years. Simply because it was to do with death and they assumed it would be hard to handle emotionally. Many that did the meetings reluctantly would come across as unfeeling or clinical as they didn’t want to encourage any of those emotions to be released. Me, it was my mission, whilst remaining matter of fact, to complete the process, satisfy compliance and legalities, to make sure that I referred to the deceased by name, encouraged the bereaved to talk about the deceased, not rush the appointment, have them leave with a hug, if acceptable, and a smile on their faces. I tried to pass this on by having staff sit in and observe to prove it wasn’t that hard to make it easierViewDate:

Loss of a Loved OneThere is still such a reluctance to discuss our deaths or incapacity plans and so many problems arise from this. I’ve seen it from the point of view as a bank manager, seeing the frustration, anger and heartache, me being verbally abused and assaulted, after explaining why I had to refuse access to accounts as they’re not legally entitled or allowed to draw funds, even on a joint account due to dementia, because there were no attorneys nominated or a will made. ‘I’m next of kin’ means very little where finances are concerned. My nephew died, unexpectedly, at 23, his son booked in to be delivered by Caesarian the next day, no will. At 23 you’re going to live forever, right? He didn’t leave much estate but the complications to sort out his car and bank accounts took so much longer. These are the reasons I became an estate planner & will writer. No getting away from it, we will all die. Talking about it won’t make it happen any sooner. One of the best gifts you can leave your family and friends is a clear plan of what you want, or sometimes more importantly, what you don’t want!!!ViewDate:

What do you think about designer dog breeds? My concern is we’re forcing the dogs to fit in with our views or fashions, for the dogs looks, more convenient sizes for smaller homes etc. I don’t like the trend in expensive combined dogs, cockerpoo, jug etc let’s call them for what they are mongrels. Plus the natural selection is out of the window possibly creating a less robust animal. I’d love a natural mongrel, the old 57 variety, but as so many dogs are spayed/neutered there’s a reducing chance of that (unless you import a rescue from abroad)ViewDate:

"really" making new friends!Hi, I’m hoping you have found some new friends despite the COVID restrictions. I found as a lone female I was perceived as a threat in mixed gender groups (I’m married, semi retired, Size 22 (uk) husband still working). I decided to try activities that were predominantly female only, likely to be a laugh and out of my comfort zone. Pole dancing- laughed so hard could hardly hang on, collected bruises like Tesco loyalty points. Burlesque chair dancing - found my inner goddess and scaring the husband with my kitchen moves. Although I haven’t been successful in seeing the activity “friends” outside the events it has improved my outlook. I look forward to the smiles and laughs. I also volunteer at a community library. There’s a wide range of ages, skills and abilities. I now help with basic English and Maths for adults, help with budgeting and life skills, cooking and recipes. If you have knitting, crochet, quilting or dressmaking skills there may be a “knit and natter” group. Even better approach a local cafe, ask for their quietest time ask to use their facilités to start your own group for an hour. If you’re the organiser folk will have to come to you!!!ViewDate:

Does the new cast of The Crown meet your expectations?I’m impressed by the quality of their voices as some seem very similar to the real thingViewDate:

Going back to schoolAfter 40 years of working I decided to complete a city & guilds award in education. Had a bit of imposter syndrome on the first day now I’m “certified” , have a new group of friends and look forward to helping other adults with their functional skills So I’d say go for it
