DamianRandleexRochdale's bio
Currently living in Lancaster, 400 metres from my (yes) 8-year-old son, Gabriele, and his mother Silvia (separated). I do some English-language proofreading for foreign academics [mainly Italian, see below] and helped to run the local Woodcraft Folk group (https://woodcraft.org.uk/about), now temporarily defunct.
Was a schoolteacher for 11 years, starting in Ghana and then in England. Then went to create the post of education officer at the Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, job-sharing with Joan [see below . . ].
With Joan had three wonderful children, Elinor, Thomas, James, all of whom are far too old to have a father as young as me. They live in Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield.
After a meandering story of bits and bobs of jobs - the most interesting being tutoring for the Open University and founding & editing 'Green Teacher' magazine - I ended up back at C.A.T., 2003 -11, tutoring on the MSc Architecture, and latterly as Programme Leader of the distance learning version. From 2008 to 2013, I was running it from a distance, in Sardinia.. Sort-of retired (resigned, really :) ) in 2011 and then staggered unwitttingly into editing and proofreading.
Came to Lancaster originally because Silvia and I fancied joining the CoHousing at Halton: this turned out to be brilliant but too expensive. And then we separated a few years after arriving here after all :( .
Interested in reading and discussing history, novels, poetry, environment, child development, reasons to be hopeful, optimistic cycling.
