Some say middle aged is a state of mind ....I reckon Im over middle age because I somehow dont see me doubling my age. In some ways it is a state of mind, but then again theres definately differences. I couldnt see me having time for babies around the house full time again. I get narky with my 17 year old for leaving all the lights on and not tidying behind him. At work I had it sussed, I hung out with all the younger workers and they used to call me bro...has all backfired now as last year a couple of girls started calling me their dad  compliment for sure...but realisation I wont be attending any raves soon!ViewDate:

Teenage Urban 'slang'Sally Lock said I do think that for the most part, I am on the same wave length as my grown up children, but I do draw the line at using some of their teenage 'slang' words ... If in doubt I always try and clarify what new random words mean! I know that their grandparents have difficulty understanding some of what they are talking about, and get very irritated by the word "like" which seems to be used in most sentences!!
Perhaps my biggest current hate! Ironically I was looking for the "like" button when I read this :-) Many slang words and curse words annoy me. Like is really annoying because how can you say "and I was a like, yes I understand" so did you understand or were you just like someone who understood but you didn't have a clue what was said? Oh my god, oh my days, etc you get the picture...just sounds pretentious. Mother F*******, speaks for itself, just not nice! But the youth of today do not have a stranglehold on useless or silly phrases, from my growing up in a housing estate in Edinburgh here is just a few "Bag off" a one off date usually "Barry" good, brilliant...eg That film was barry "black man" that was what is now commonly known as a chocolate wafer in most places, and black man is totally politically incorrect nowadays "slider" was just a 2 wafers with ice cream in middle like above but without the chocolate and fondant part. Was plenty more but cant think right nowViewDate:

MemoriesSand said It's bad enough that Facebook keeps asking me if I want to be friends with my ex! Modern social networking mechanisms won't let you forget old loves, even when you would prefer to!
He he, that seems to have hit a nerve :-) The problem with thinking about old flames is that we remember them how they were, and that often bares little resemblence to how they are nowadays. Having good memories can be nice but the danger of looking up said old flame is you might be expecting a 52 year old who largely looks and thinks like that 22 year old and be sadly sissapointed ;-) -
