Pen palsHi Robbie2499 Did you get a response from Meeka? I can’t see any recent activity so maybe she gave up the idea due to lack of response.ViewDate:

Newbie hereHi Shaz It’s not just you I’m afraid. It is a very strange site to navigate. One of the most simple things to do would be to access all the most recent posts so that any new members could be seen more easily. Understandably, a lot of people give up because of the clumsy navigation. I hope you manage to find this okay. I’m not even sure if I will! Good luck and helloViewDate:

What to do when we retireHow’s it going Harry? Not having the focal point of working I think is the biggest issue. Great at first as the pressure is off, but it’s easy to just drift after a while, which if it continues can lead to a lack of involvement / interaction with the world and a feeling of isolation. So I would suggest you start whatever activity you are interested in before you retire and build on it later. This is particularly important if you follow up on your thoughts of mentoring. It will be easier to do this while you still have the contacts/network readily available.ViewDate:

Winter fuel allowance 2019 - how does it work?Hi Trish. Did you get it okay? If you receive a state pension directly into your bank account your fuel allowance should go there automatically and you should get a letter from pensions saying it’s paid.ViewDate:

Elasticated fabric lids for boxesHi Wobbles I hope you have found a solution by now, or you may have just given up! But just in case you are still wanting a response I can say that sewing rounded corners is one of the most difficult techniques, because of all the bunched up fabric you are trying to squeeze into a tiny space. It is difficult to explain without diagrams or photos but I will try my best if you would still like an answer. Before ploughing through a long explanation I think it would be a whole lot easier for you if you can use a few rows of shirring elastic instead. The fabric will need to be fairly lightweight for this approach. If you are using a sewing machine, wind the shirring elastic onto the bottom bobbin and use a coloured thread of your choice that will be showing on the right side of the fabric - either to blend in or to contrast. Check your sewing machine instructions for the recommended tension and stitch size for shirring. Place the fabric right side up so that the shirring elastic will be sewn onto the underside (the wrong side) of the fabric. Depending on the fabric you will probably need to stop it fraying. To check, pull lightly at the cut edge with finger and thumb and see if strands of fabric work loose. If they don’t your fabric should be okay - most fabric frays. Let me know how you got on, or if you want to try again. Good luck.ViewDate:

Finding the right senior chat room for youHi themole I’m new (to the site ) and finding it extremely difficult to navigate, and although I’m not Twitter or Facebook savvy I am almost fused to my iPad! Did you manage to work through the muddle or did you give up? I think I might do the latter.ViewDate:

Coach Built PramsHi Everyone. I am hoping to continue a thread posted by PrelovedPrams last year, but not sure if this will end up in the correct place so here goes! I have a vintage Silver Cross pram I bought new for my own children in the 1970’s and I would like it to be restored and not turned to scrap. I have used it for previous grandchildren, but sadly, it is now in a bad state after being stored in a corrugated iron shed. It would be great if I could use it again, but think it might be too costly to restore. I look forward to viewing your comments. -
