Silver SmilesShould this be on a jokes page? A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and asked his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son, "You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car." The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer and they agreed on it. After about six weeks his father said, "Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut." The boy said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair, and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair.” “I agree,” said the father. "But did you also notice that they all walked everywhere they went?"ViewDate:

Would you be happy to use Alexa to search the NHS website to answer your health questions? While I still retain my faculties Alexa, or anything similar, is the last piece of electronic gadgetry that would use. It is bad enough nowadays suspecting just how much information various organisations already hold about us, I would not want to 'assist' any sort of robot by revealing even more.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsThoroughly agree, being without transport would make life just as difficult for me. The unfortunate fact is that no organisation can really afford to operate at a loss. There should be some sort of scheme set up by, perhaps, local councils where people living in outlying areas could access some sort of dial-a-ride service (with a contribution) which could be subsidised in the same way the some bus companies are now. Time will tell - we have to live in hope.ViewDate:

Anyone got any good tips to stop cats fouling garden? Many things cost money - something that costs very little is a well-aimed bucket of water.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsSuppose there could be humorous interpretations but there may have to be an age limit. Not something for me though - I don't enjoy seeing others disappointed.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsHope this one is acceptable; Paddy goes into a pharmacy, reaches into his pocket and takes out a small bottle and a teaspoon. He pours from the bottle onto the teaspoon and offers it to the chemist. "Could you taste this for me, please?" The chemist takes the teaspoon, puts it in his mouth, swills the liquid around and swallows it. "Does that taste sweet to you?" He asks. "No, not at all," says the chemist. "Oh that's a relief," Paddy says. "The doctor told me to come here and get my urine tested for sugar!!ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsThe basic idea is good but the inevitable 'antis' would make it unworkable given the number of steps that would need to be taken before anything could be achieved.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsI certainly feel it is wrong to expect something for nothing. Reduced rural bus services are a problem but it would be interesting to find out how many 'free bus pass' trips are actually taken and what the revenue would be if there was a nominal charge of £1, which most people I know would be happy to pay, made that could possibly mean that more services could be retained.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsThink that the 'normal' should be replaced by ordinary people who do not necessarily show any outward signs of their illness.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsSorry, not a Love Island fan - this is another of the trash programmes that are offered for the enjoyment of the mindless.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsIs there a humour section? Many of the jokes, etc, that we see today are just rehashes of those we found funny over 50 years ago - maybe we could be reminded of the originals.
