Saga's perfect for Silver SurfersEach of course to their own and I'm happy to say we too aren't restricted to pure 'cruising' holidays. We do however like our creature comforts so a camper van/ caravan holiday would not be for us. I think we are all now in the same boat for 2020 though we were most fortunate to have successfully taken two breaks before lockdown commenced. The January trip through Thailand and Laos was most exciting... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2020/01/30/fifty-shades-of-green-laos-mekong-river-cruise/ ...while the February/March Caribbean cruise was an excellent way to visit 11 different islands in relative comfort... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2020/03/25/msc-preziosa-yacht-club-experience/ Maybe we will have to bring forward our late-retirement plans now with virus restrictions and think about taking a look at our own country. Best wishes, RichardViewDate:

Saga's perfect for Silver SurfersI can assure you I neither work nor have an interest in cruising companies bar being a shareholder in Carnival Corporation. There is of course a pecuniary advantage to being a shareholder as on booking a cruise there is an additional allocation of spending money (On Board Credit) which usually adds up to half a dozen bottles of wine.ViewDate:

Older grandchildren who never say Thank Your for Christmas or Birthday chequesNope. and when it became apparent I decided to start reducing the value of the gifts. That made not an iota of difference so, fast forward 4 years and it's now a Christmas and birthday card. Meanwhile, I'm hundreds of pounds better off.ViewDate:

Is Labour's new WASPI promise credible? My wife was subject to this policy shift however we were all given sufficient notice and it therefore came as no great shock.ViewDate:

Is Labour's new WASPI promise credible?Boris Johnson's strategy certainly seemed to work and I don't blame him one iota avoiding an interview with the Biased Broadcasting Corporation: who are now renaging on the deal to continue to provide free licence to those over 75 years of age.ViewDate:

Advice about going on cruisesI'm a little surprised the OP hasn't acknowledged any of the replies below which all make good points. However, I will add one more link having recently sailed on a purpose built 'Old peoples' cruise for 16 nights. Here is my review on the excellent Saga ship, Spirit of Discovery... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2019/12/17/sagas-spirit-of-discovery-16-night-cruise/ViewDate:

One-way cruise Singapore to UKBoth Cunard and P&O have stopovers in Singapore before returning back to the UK. Your only real restriction will be that travel is pretty restricted to March and April each year.ViewDate:

Will you be voting in the European Elections this month?pip2 wrote... "We are in charge of our own judicial system. We are in charge of our own trading, etc. The UK is a sovereign nation. Every country in EU is a sovereign nation. We use our sovereign power to take part in a bigger thing. The European Union. The agreements we make, we honour. There has to be a court, to decide points of law that come from those agreements. We honour that. And help to run it. Chief advocate from the UK: Eleanor Sharpston QC". Well we really would expect someone from the 'establishment to write such a load of tosh. When the ECJ is a point of appeal AFTER the highest court in the UK has made a decision what on earth is the woman talking about.ViewDate:

Will you be voting in the European Elections this month? The European Commission capped countries', not just China's, steel imports to the EU at “traditional trade flows”, above which a 25% tariff applies. EU automotive manufacturers have raised concerns over restrictions on these steel imports as the tariffs 'a real risk' to automotive sector. So by definition the EU is protectionist and yes, that benefits EU steel manufacturers but, as explained, not EU motor manufacturers. Meanwhile, once again, it was an EU tax on British Steel that eventually sent them into administration. The British people responded to the EU in no uncertain way yesterday.ViewDate:

Advice about going on cruisesGood afternoon Mayzday. Hope I'm not too late with my piece of advice but I tend to record all my cruises on a cruise blob and they often prove invaluable to others in their research. Here's a link to hopefully whet your appetite... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2018/04/01/star-princess-hawaiian-islands-adventure/ViewDate:

Will you be voting in the European Elections this month? You’ll probably find that overall theUK has generated a lower carbon footprint than most EU individual countries.ViewDate:

Will you be voting in the European Elections this month?I'm afraid that is just typical scaremongering as is so much that has been written and spoken against Nigel Farage. In fact we have seen today one disastrous result of EU policy with British Steel going into administration. It began to declare profits post 2016. But then it fell foul of the European Union's carbon tax. A tax on something of near-zero relevance to Climate change, and the immediate cause of British Steel requiring a £100 million emergency loan from the government just one month ago to pay the tax - and thus avoid a further fine from Brussels. Does anyone think either Mrs Merkel or President Macron would have just stood by and watched in silence as one of their steel making firms went to the wall.? -
