IT support at home pleaseI 've run across seniors who have let their tech sit idle for years because they couldn't fix it or get it going themselves. Sometimes it's because they've been given a used PC for free and just had no idea how to use it. Plus you might not be the only one who here who might be able to benefit from a little free tech advice. So really, there's no way for me to know whether or not this would be useful, but I figured it couldn't do any harm to offer an answer.ViewDate:

IT support at home pleaseIf you haven't already got it fixed or tried the following then do this: - Uninstall all the printer software currently installed. - Download the latest printer driver software from the manufacturer's website - Make sure you get software that matches your OS - Make sure the printer plugged in by a USB cable. - If it's wireless you can switch to wireless later after you get it working. - Follow the instructions on installing the software and printer that come with the download. - Try printing a test page If it still doesn't work, new printers are so inexpensive these days that you can get a whole new one for less than the cost of a service call. Good luck. Hope this helps.ViewDate:

University versus Work ExperienceLots of good posts here. My personal opinion is that unless one is doing neurosurgery, real-world experience is of far more practical value. I think the whole education system needs a revamp. By the time students are graduating from post-secondary programs, most of what they learned is obsolete anyway. It's become a multi-billion dollar industry. I don't think that's fair for students or society. Okay I'm a Canadian, so I'll probably get a bunch of flack for being a socialist sympathizer, but my view is that things like education and insurance should be structured to cover the costs of providing service rather than providing multi-million dollar mansions with swimming pools and private jets for CEOs,ViewDate:

Does the person in the middle seat on a plane have the right to use both armrests?Well, the two outside seats have at least one armrest assigned to the occupant, so that takes care of 50% of the problem. The other 50% would seem to involve sharing the two middle armrests between the two adjacent passengers. So what you do is draw a line down the middle of the two armrests in the center seat and dare anyone to cross into your territory. If they do, then it's a tacit declaration of war, where there is the possibility of collateral damage.ViewDate:

Is it ever ok to snoop on your partner's device? In any relationship communication is key, and these are after all, communication devices. So the key here is to have a mutual agreement with your partner that you can both have access to each others devices whenever either of you feel that you would like to know something. So long as it's not a classified government secret, I don't see the problem. The real problem is the mere fact that one or both partners feel that they need to "snoop" in the first place, which implies doing it behind their back. After that starts happening, you're lives have become split. Be up-front and honest. My partner and I call it "keeping the table clean". Little things add up over time to a big mess. Don't let it happen to you.ViewDate:

Is the 'Naughty' label not nice?I couldn't agree more. I've never been an advocate of treating children with less respect than I'd treat anyone else. That being said, if they're acting out in a hostile manner, how would we deal with anyone else? For me the key is to engage negative behavior with an appropriately measured response that leads the person to their own conclusion about how to best behave. Leaving someone you are responsible for alone in a corner or a stairway isn't likely to be as effective at accomplishing this as positive and proactive engagement. -
