Do you support Boris's decision to suspend Parliament?Yes, we will continue to trade with the EU once the initial chaos settles out and we start to put arrangements in place to replace those we're tearing up and for which no plan has been created in 3 years of posturing by Brexit enthusiasts. But trade will be on far worse terms for us. Not only that, but we are throwing away the trading arrangements we currently have, as an EU member state, with the whole of the rest of the world. We will have to start again from scratch, and every other state we deal with will be seeking to take advantage of our isolation by dictating the terms of any new deal we make. They will be looking for a better deal than they have with us as a member of the EU; that means better for them, not better for us. Of course, our EU partners regret that we are doing this and they will feel some practical loss. But for them it will be a blip and they will quickly replace any markets lost as they will continue to have continuity in their relationships with each other and with the rest of the world. Far more important to them than a new deal with us is to maintain the integrity of the EU's institutions. The idea that they "need us more than we need them" is a fiction.ViewDate:

Do you support Boris's decision to suspend Parliament?Duh ... Iceland has never been an EU/EEC member state and in fact, before the UK, no member state has ever renounced its membership. Maybe you're thinking of the fact that Iceland applied for membership and then withdrew its application in 2013. It does, however continue to be a member of the EU single market, something that the Brexit fanatics are determined to repudiate. I guess that's an important factor in the strong Iceland economy.
