Do you support Boris's decision to suspend Parliament? He may well have said that he is 'not attracted to arcane procedures such as the prorogation of Parliament' but that is not the same as saying he WOULDN'T do it. Needs must when the devil drives. What his actions have done is make it EASIER for him to facilitate a deal if one is on offer from the EUgh, not that we actually NEED one. It silences the naysayers for the period when the conferences are in swing, and gives the EUgh an opportunity to come down off their collective high-horse and face the fact that they are going to have re-open the WA, scrap the backstop and renegotiate. The Lords have already opined on the legality and necessity of not having to fork over the £39bn, even the EUgh has acknowledged that they cannot force the UK to pay. The sum was mooted on the promise that it paved the way for a trade deal. Maybe, if they gave us a suitable trade deal, we'd be amenable to be paying SOMETHING in return, but paying up-front before the negotiations have even begun is lunacy. As for the old chestnut of "WTO rules" not working because that's already been debunked by the WTO themselves.', the ex-CEO of the WTO first said it would work, then changed his mind (presumably after his bank balance was added to by certain quarters). However, the CURRENT WTO management has agreed it WOULD work.
