With the vaccination programme under way, how likely are you to book a holiday this year?A holiday is the last thing on my mind right now - I'd rather do everything possible to stay alive first and then see how things go later in the year!ViewDate:

Grey pound holiday bookings surge as vaccines rolled outI do understand why so many people need to have something to look forward to but now does not, to me at least, seem to be the best time to be actively promoting the booking of holidays abroad (or, indeed, anywhere). In fact, I personally think it is downright irresponsible to be advertising holiday bookings on TV when so many holidays during the first lockdown were ruined and there is still so much uncertainty about everything! Right now, a holiday is the last thing on my mind...I just want to try to ensure the safety of my family and friends!ViewDate:

Will you be joining in the Clap for Heroes on Thursday?Better still, try not to moan at all - I make a point of thanking the member of staff at the checkout every time I shop in person instead of on-line...if they weren't there we'd all be stuck! Mind you, I have thought about moaning on the occasions when I've seen three or four young members of staff chatting together on the shop floor with no masks on...ViewDate:

Are you worried that other people are not following Covid rules? At the beginning of the first lockdown, most people took it seriously and adhered to the rules, and I simply felt concerned about the minority who ignored the restrictions. Now, however, I feel really angry at those who flout the rules and even deny the very existence of this killer virus. I cannot understand how anyone can deny either its existence or its severity when so many people have died, and continue to die, all over the world. Even with the vaccines we still have a lot to learn about this new virus and it is beyond foolish to dice with death, especially when there are still so many unknowns. It also shows a lack of respect bordering on contempt for the hundreds of NHS staff who have already lost their own lives in their fight to save so many of us. I have lost a much loved aunt and uncle already and am terrified for the lives of the rest of my family, many of whom have underlying health issues, some of which are severe.ViewDate:

Should wearing a face mask be compulsory in shops? But isn't that why there is a waterproof layer on the outside of the mask? And isn't that why it's recommended to buy a mask with five layers of covering, and preferably one that you can also put an extra filter in? I'm not disputing what you say, by the way, just asking as there are so many masks available now! I completely understand the difference between 'droplet' and 'aerosol' spray (particle size in microns and the distance it can travel and how long it can remain airborne for) but it IS somewhat confusing trying to establish which masks to buy, bearing in mind we are still being asked not to buy the types that the NHS need, even though they are all widely available now. Could you recommend one, Trudy?ViewDate:

Should wearing a face mask be compulsory in shops?I had to collect a prescription a few days ago from a chemist next to a large Tesco. I couldn't believe it when I saw that all the markings had been removed from outside, the trolleys were all back in their usual place and NOT being cleaned, and everyone was just strolling in as normal! I was told that there was no longer a one-way system inside and they were not restricting the number of shoppers. This actually frightened the life out of me as I feel it is far too soon to lift the lockdown in this way. We still know next to nothing about this virus, but what we HAVE learned is that it does not just affect the respiratory system but that it also attacks the brain, resulting in neurological problems, some of them long term. I for one will be wearing a mask when I'm next forced to shop, regardless of any Government decision!ViewDate:

Should wearing a face mask be compulsory in shops? You're right, Kes! Also, once you've put a mask on you should not touch it (hence the reason for making sure it's comfortable), and you must take it off correctly and dispose of it safely.ViewDate:

Should wearing a face mask be compulsory in shops?I completely sympathise. However, if you are referring to the clear visors, I must point out that they will only protect you from direct splashes in droplet form. They offer no protection whatsoever on their own from the 'aerosol' type of spray which has much smaller particles and which hangs in the air much longer...that is why all NHS staff in ICU wear both a visor and at least one mask underneath it. Anyone who says it is 'over' is either privy to more information than the top scientists worldwide, overly optimistic or completely stupid!ViewDate:

Should wearing a face mask be compulsory in shops?Although a mask or face covering may not necessarily prevent the 'aerosol' type of spray from being spread (depending what type of mask is being used), surely it makes sense to take every opportunity to try to stop this dreadful virus spreading? I'm fairly certain most people would rather be uncomfortable for a short while rather than dead for a long, long time!ViewDate:

Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?Margaret Thatcher brought in coal from Europe because she refused to be dictated to by the miners and their boorish leader. How could she do otherwise when the country had been reduced to working a three day week and we had to eat by candlelight in cold houses during the strikes?ViewDate:

Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?Thank goodness someone is stating the actual facts. The miners brought about their own downfall through sheer greed and the coal industry was on its last legs anyway; many miners have since found far better employment in alternative, safer industries. While on holiday in Somerset, my husband and I met a miner (inside Cheddar Gorge) who told us during a lengthy and very interesting conversation that he was one of many, many miners who were glad to see the back of the pits and, in fact, hated Arthur Scargill and what he stood for! Margaret Thatcher was a decent Prime Minister who, unfortunately, was surrounded by a lot of back-stabbing, cowardly men.ViewDate:

Are you a fan of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!?I completely agree with you, 'productofthe 40s', apart from your comment about SCD. This programme follows the hard work put in and progress made by people, many of whom have never tried dancing before. I thoroughly enjoy watching the couples and listening to comments made by judges who actually know what they're talking about. I'm also looking forward to the return of 'Dancing on Ice' for the same reason. You can certainly consign the other shows mentioned to the bin, though!ViewDate:

Should Theresa May Resign or Remain?I could not agree with scandiman more. Theresa May should undoubtedly stay - she did win, after all. The Labour party excels at making promises it has no intention of keeping, and has shown on this occasion that it is especially proficient at aiming its policies at students who, whether they like it or not, are somewhat inexperienced when it comes to the ways of the world. I wonder what percentage of students took the time and trouble to do their own research into Jeremy Corbyn's dubious past to discover for themselves exactly where his loyalties lie? The Labour party tried its damndest to turn this election campaign into a generational war, making young people believe that it was a case of 'them or us' which could not be further from the truth. I, like many others of my generation, have spent the vast majority of my working life supporting young people in their learning and we all continue to care deeply about their future prospects. At this precise moment, Theresa May needs to send out the right message and remain as leader of the Conservatives.ViewDate:

Have you changed your mind? This is a difficult one. I had intended to vote Conservative (I've never voted Labour in my life and cannot stand Jeremy Corbyn) but Theresa May is making it hard for me to make a definitive decision. I am disgusted that she is in favour of fox hunting, I am upset that she will not even consider the decriminalisation of cannabis for medicinal purposes despite growing evidence that it has a place in modern medicine, and I am angry at her apparently dismissive attitude towards pensioners, especially since many of us have 'gone without' luxuries in order to pay off our mortgages and leave something for our children. If you are not careful, Theresa, I feel you may lose a substantial number of votes in the forthcoming election that you could probably have counted on getting up until you published your manifesto.
