Are we on a countdown to chaos? The irresponsible behaviour of some can have a serious impact on us all. It is very sad and upsetting to see that some cannot be trusted to follow government advice for an issue as serious as Covid-19. The government ought to put more restrictions in place so people cannot travel so far and the virus can be better controlled.ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months? No, it is not realistic to isolate over 70s in such a manner. In such isolation their physical and mental health will deteriorate rapidly! I am over 70, I am fitter than many people in their 50-60, I train every day, I have a strict health regime when it comes to diet and have not been ill (not even cold or flu) for many years. I have no underlying health conditions of any kind either. My ability to think very clearly is also fully intact. So to isolate everyone over 70 makes no sense, one size does not fit all. To ask us not restrict travel and avoid public place like theatres and similar places with large numbers of people is sensible. To allow to go out to get fresh air and exercise while we keep our distance from other people would help us to keep healthy with a hugely reduced risk of being infected or indeed infecting anyone else. There are plenty of walking/cycling path that can be used without any risk to anyone else. This would also allow us to see other people milling around, at a safe distance. We could wear a mask to indicate that we need to keep distance if that was considered a good idea. If is fine to want to protect older people, but we are not all the same so let us have sensible rules. That apart this is also about protect the NHS as it would not be able to cope with a lot of very ill people and that is a very significant point. The government has left the NHS underfunded, under resourced and under staffed for a long time and now we are paying that price too.
